I have dis-assembled many Buick Skylark & GS cars and all the trans coolant lines were green. I have NOS clips here and they are green. I probably have the one I took off my current project in a box someplace. It was/is green. Four speed cars got the clip whether needed or not. Check with others with original non restored cars and you will see that that clip is green zinc chromate. The other spring steel clips such as the fuel lines clips were yellow zinc chromate .

The clip that holds the transmission lines to the frame i am 100 percent sure they were yellow. I have seen dozens of them. Funny thing is they were even put in standard transmission cars just sat there unused. They were Not green. The little clips that hold brake lines to front of frame were anodized green. The three clips on the drivers side frame the hood brake and fuel lines were also the same yellow although the clips are different. Tough to tell the gloss level of that yellow but it’s probably more likely a satin yellow. You could actually buy the transmission line clips a few years ago. I bought a bag and those were more like silver cad. I painted mine yellow as original. Problems arise when people freshened up engine compartments years ago and painted black right over them. Don’t take my word for it. Find some junkyard or original cars to check. Please don’t paint them green.

All my experience is with mostly Flint built and some Framingham so maybe other plants used Green? All my experience is 70-72

Here is my NOS piece next to my original someone painted black. You can see yellow around edges.

Time can dull things so real gloss is anyone’s guess.

Brett - Wait - it just hit me - you scrubbed it with mineral salt, or mineral spirits?

The inevitable finally happened- the engine is now out and the real dirty work begins. Big shout out to Jason for pushing this project to the next level . After subtly pointing out the obvious “ you’ve come this far “ he was pulling in my driveway unloading his hoist. Engine/ tranny were out in record time . Now the task will be much easier and the end result will be a more thorough job . Also impressed with how neatly it came out. -practically no spills .

Yea, we did. I find it easier to pull them out together. Plus it will let Rich de-grease and paint the transmission Eastwood aluma blast (hint hint)
