Last month, I was finally able to get the choke tweaked to where I feel it's most effective. I must have taken that rod off a couple hundred times to bend, lengthen, shorten, etc...but it works.

Not much else to report, really. After 6 years - 3 with the new drivetrain - the car is pretty much what I've always envisioned in terms of esthetics, drivabilaty.

I still need to add the adjustable upper rear control arms but they aren't hindering driving and I'll get to it eventually.

I really wish FabCraft would get their act in gear, so I could build another 3.64 rear and do some drag racing.

All of this fun while getting about 6 smiles per gallon.

More (attempted) close-ups of the refinished rocker panel moldings.

Lol, not judging, but looking for technical advice. I hand brushed the red but lost on the black

    I know you're not. Haha

That was more so a reaction to having another project.

I'd probably mask as much of it off as possible and hit it with black spray paint, then wipe the raised area with a rag doused in acetone.

I'd likely try it on a different one first.

Yes I think I remember learning this technique. Can we practice on the black car first, lol

Yesterday was the nicest day here in Southeastern MA in a while and looking at the forecast - probably the last full day of the month with no rain.

I put about 40 miles on it yesterday and it the odometer now reads 57,908. This car is really a pleasure to drive and finally dialed in to where it's at optimum drivabilaty.

The day culminated with a local cruise-in and judging by the turnout, everyone else was of the same mindset in terms of the forecast.

New local cruise night with the gang. This one is getting more packed each week.

Incidentally, the odometer ticked over 58K on the way home.

    Stripo with a trunk light?
    Original paint?
    Original right hand mirror?

Back in the day, when I was young and stupid, the Westgate Mall in Brockton, MA and Warner Boulevard in Taunton, MA were two of the top spots for heads up street racing here in Southeastern MA.

The Westgate spot was a stop light (where you'd enter the mall) that had between an 1/8 and 1/4 mile straightaway that eventually merged with an off ramp from one of the main highways in my area. How no one ever died is a miracle.

Warner Boulevard was over 2 miles of straight, flat road. Perfect for a quick run. At one point, someone even painted a starting line and finish line. Crazy!!

About 5 years ago, a good friend decided to organize a Warner Boulevard reunion and started a Facebook page dedicated to just that.

Last night was the 5th and by far best one yet. Over 150 of us jammed the old Caldor (remember that store?) parking lot before cruising through Taunton to an outdoor venue another friend owns/operates, for food, live music and bench racing.

It was an absolute blast seeing so many cars come out of the woodwork that use to pound the pavement way back when. My friend even had stickers and t-shirts made this year and he's already planning next year's event, which will be tough to top.

This (in my opinion, anyway) is what these cars are all about: fun, the old days and making memories. Get them out of the garage and drive them. They weren't built to sit stagnant for years on end.

Disclaimer: the sticker is affixed to a piece of magnetic sheet.

What do think Vader has in it for a 1/4 mile?:D

    That's a good question.

This build is very similar - if not better - than one I had 30 years ago that ran a best of 12.30.

That '72 Stage 1 had every conceivable option a person could order for those cars. Conversely, Vader only has power steering.

It'll be interesting to see, as the goal is to get up to New England Dragway before the season ends this year.
