Spotted this at a local car dealer that gets quite a few classics on my weekend road trip today. I'll call on it this week for a price and probably go check it out. I'm far from an expert on these, so if you guys want to post some tell tale signs what to look for to see if it's real I'll check it out for you......looks nice from what I could see. Rear bumper looked rechromed.

Take more photos of interior, engine bay, and front and rear to check out key indicators of real GS. See if it it auto or 4 spd, does it have PW, PB, PS, pbuckets or bench seat, if buckets is there a console, is front seat a power seat or manual adjustment, looks like real GS grill and hood scoops, horizontal trunk trim,, does it have GS400 on the passenger side end of the trim, is the trim in good shape or full of pock marks/bubbles, is there GS400 emblems on the rear quarters, is there a GS400 on passenger side of dash bezel, AM or AM/FM radio, A/C, miles on odometer, 'star wars' air cleaner on carb, all just a few to consider. Looks like a dark green from the one photo. Condition of top? Condition of upholstery?

    Thanks,

Looks like a decent ‘58 Bel Air next to the Buick.

It is a very dark green with what I'd call a "saddle" colored top. I will run out there on a lunch break if I can (it's on the complete opposite side of town and that can be 15 minutes or 45 depending on traffic) or I will at least go next Saturday. It did have a "GS 400" emblem, a rectangle aluminium one with the words indented and black letters. I will do my best when I go to check it out for you guys. Yes, the '58 Yoeman wagon was why I stopped in the first place. Looks really nice. Then i saw a '67 grille and I had 2 reasons to go back this week :)

On his website that '57 bel air 2 door is $27,995, and the yoeman is $34,995. The GS isn't listed, but those seem fair for what I saw of them. There's a nice '81 firebird formula for 12k also.

Didn’t realize the ‘58 was a wagon. Not many of those left.

Looks original except baby moons and 3" wide whites. Very clean. I knew I was going back to look so didn't bother with pics but figured I'd post about the gs so you guys could tell me what you want me to look for.

    Following!
Check door panel emblems. Should say gs 400 instead of having a bird.
Thats the only non reproduced emblem
For 67 gran sports. Hence the reason people are always wanting them so bad.

Just got off the phone with the fella, super nice guy. He remembered me from when I looked at the wagon. He's going to stay there late and I'm going to check the car out to take pics tomorrow after work. It's the owner of the dealership's personal car, which is who I kind of know. He's actually a pretty knowledgeable guy and answered my questions well. Info I got from him over the phone today:

Car is originally Verde Green and Cream Yellow inside (he said he believes it is 1 of 1, but you know how that goes). He got the car in 2007 on trade on a '67 GTO. The interior was already done at that point, but he's done some finding of the proper trims and things to make sure it's right (we'll let you guys be the judge of that). He said the car was also painted a lighter green, so he had it redone in the right Verde shade. Suspension and steering is completely rebuilt/replaced except for the steering gear, engine (supposedly numbers matching) is rebuilt, as is the transmission. The only thing he said isn't redone is the rearend, because it works with no noises or leaks, so he never had it gone through. He said one convertible top hose is leaking, but he's getting that fixed, and the door panels are currently at one of the upholstery shops here in town because they were missing some of the trim, which he tracked down and is getting installed. He mentioned the guys doing the different work, and I know all their names so it is getting decently redone, no hacks, but not really Buick experts either.

He says the underside is just as shiny and new as the paint and body. Has over 40k into it, but said he'd take $35,000-$40,000 when it's all done depending on his final costs for these small repairs because he's tired of putting money into it haha.....Pics on Wednesday!

(Oh, and the only thing it's missing is the back up lenses. Said he can't find a decent set to install).

What about the missing headlight bezels? Oh, and tell him to pick his favorite GTO repo vendor and order '67 GTO back-up lenses. They're the same as the Buicks.

Will do. I get the feeling from talking to him it's in a state of a few small things being repaired off site. He probably has the bezels since he made it a point to mention the back up lenses are missing. I didn't tell him I snuck through the bushes to take that pic behind it (thick bushes, probably didn't expect anyone to do that.)
