Anyone interested in a run of 300, or 340 shorty headers for the 64-67 Skylarks?

I'm looking at having a batch of custom Buick headers made and we can get whatever there is demand for!

Why not do full length headers? I would be interested depending on price and if Postons delivers on its promise to get these done (not likely).

Who are you thinking of aproaching, TA?

We are looking at using 64-66 chevelle headers on buick flanges. If I get much interest I will anounce the shop that I'm planning to work with on this venture, or he can chime in if he wants.

The shop has full capability of producing the headers but we are still in the planning stages.

    Any interest???

Small block chevy exhaust ports are totally different from a 215/300/340 series Buick small block. They may work on the Buick 350 using Buick flanges, like you had planned. The 340 ports are not siamesed like the 350. They alternate with the intake ports ( ex, in, ex, in, ex, in, ex, in ). similar to a small block Ford.

Search for some pics on here or E-bay and you will see the differences.

PS, there is a '78 skyhawk in the bargain finder, if you are still looking for one.

Thanks for the info about the exhaust ports, looks like the 300/340 headers may need a different header donor to mate to the flanges we will have made. Maybe there is a ford header that could work for this application. Someone with a 64-67 would come in handy for some ballpark measurements/pics to get us started.

Brian PM the info on the 78 Skyhawk please. I'll buy a bargain finder in the morning but it may save me a hour of searching through it...

Good ideads Brian thanks, will look into this for sure. I bought a 77 vega today so I'm not llooking for a Skyhawk anymore. Don't worry it will be Buick 350 powered of course!!!

I think alot of 300/340 owners would pony up, but the lack of any real parts avail has most owners just getting by with stock parts. they've given up on it due to failed promises or endless delays. Postons has been claiming to make another run, that doesn't even fit the 340 very well anyway, but they still haven't DONE it.
I'd buy a set, even if hey were custom made/low production # item. And long tube would be the way to go.

the easiest headers for the 300/340 are adapting small block ford shorty headers. buy the flanges and a little pipe work and your done. but, you need to buy the correct ones for the engine to breathe.
i am working with a guy on this project.

Well, I'm the shop that Sean has been talking about and I can tell you all, if we get the information we need I will make the parts. For flanges I would need either a head, or a one peice exhaust gasket to create a CAD drawing from. I would make the flanges out of the same stout 3/8 stock I use for the turbo manifolds. These would be low production, in fact they would be made one set at a time by order. The point is I'm putting my name out there and saying that I WILL make them, if the support is there.

    Devon...
    Those headers look nice!
It must have been tough routing those pipes past
the steering box & keeping clear of the steering linkage.
What size primaries are they 1 7/8"?
Looks like I'll have my work cut out for me...
I will be having the same issues with my 65.

i was thinking about this and knew i couldn't be right. then i looked, ex, in, ex, in, in, ex, in,ex

Not exactly the same setup as a ford. I always wondered if there was a rover header that could work, or at least be used as a donor with a different collector. You'd only have to build half of one. instead of custom building the whole damn thing

Thanks! They're 2" primaries. Watson did an amazing job, even kept them equal length.

    mark,
nobody said you couldnt make the flanges. better somebody from the buick crowd than a stranger. since you have the facilities you could build the shorty headers for the 300-340's. get a set of stock exh's and some sb ford headers(big tube) and build a set. my welding days are over, too shaky. as far as the 350 in 64-67 a-bodies, havent figured that out yet.

you can call/email me if you have any questions. i dont keep any secrets on anything.

Hey, no sweat. I was just being a smartass! Better than a dumbass right!? :)

I do still plan on offering intermediate length headers for those engines.

Are shorties really gonna be that big of an upgrade over the stock manifolds? I think if I was going to spend the dollars on headers, I would want the most performance for my money. Just not sure shorties are the way to go.....?
