Crazy price for NOS door strikers! The first time you shut the door they're not NOS anymore! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280618256665&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
It's insanity. First of all, they are reproduced, and the reproductions are nice. Secondly, if they're going on a `68 or newer car they will be painted body color so you'll never see the original finish. And lastly, who in the hell is going to pay any attention to door strikers unless it's in the concours class, and even then they're not going to dock you a point if you don't have NOS strikers. So what is it? Bragging rights? If a guy told me he had NOS door strikers that he paid upwards of $83 for, I'd simply think he was an idiot!
Only problem is that most of the reproductions, if not all of them, have an Allen head socket instead of the Torx bit like the originals.
You guys know that is a retro part..... 20151275 was not a cataloged part until 3/1/1981.... If you do not care what you put on your car, the strikers are still available from GM under a new number and come with a black finish.....under $10 each...... of course I have 2 sets of the new ones that I will sell for half the final bid.......:Brow:
When I worked at the Framingham GM plant in 1972, those parts came into the factory in wire pallets of about 2-3000. Same with door hinges and bolts....thousands of them. Bet GM paid less than a dollar for those strikers.
Need to correct my first post. Bid is at $242 this morning  In todays economy, are there really this many people with more money than brains o No:
Maybe I should pull out my NOS door weatherstripping or the NOS 70-72 drip rail moldings. The majority of the parts I have for my 70 442 conv are NOS. I could probably get more for them then when the car is finished. Duane
