Gary, i am confused. Are you not old enough to drive yet? If your not then you have a good head start to hot rodding for your age. I also am waiting for some info and pictures of the iron head work your doing.

Gary's MO (modus operandi) has been the same since he joined almost five years ago. There's been nothing of projects, progress, etc., just spouting half-butted theory and name dropping. How ironic his very first post really is:

To answer your questions is not hard, I will post my 351 windsor heads that I have done and will post a couple of pictures of the car and engines that I was part of, now for flow sheets? Sorry never had them flowed. I'm still looking for junk 455 heads that I can do. porting work on and do the cut away for you guy's. The school thing, I'm disabled and on Social security disability and am working on getting my grant money to attend mondello's school. I have six children and a disabled wife too, money is very tight and slowly but shirley I'm doing what I have started off to do. I'm 42 yrs old. Now for Devon, He has never had anything kind to say to me but try to get meb all upset. That's ok though, I'm thick skined, I'm originally from Flint, Michigan. He is just jealous that I have gotta a lot of information from some high up people and he hasn't! I rather have BIG NAME PEOPLE knowing the things I know because. he sure doesn't ! Atleast the big name people know their stuff because he sure don't...

Really Devon, hmmm let me see here, remember the equation that you said that it is true? Well guess what? Your are the one that was wrong again! You need to find all your facts before posting! Mr bernoulli's equation states this "fluid can change its kinetic energy for pressure . The relationships for fluid density, speed, and pressure." You can thank Daniel Bernoulli for the concept and equate it to establishing a test pressure measurement method that applies to airflow testing as well. that is rt out of. HP BOOK. ENGINE AIRFLOW BY Harold Bettes. Now go find more wrong doings on me and I'll correct you again ok. Don't be jealous that I don't need a college degree to do what I'm doing. Yes it sure would help but poor people learn differently! Here is something for you to look up, Reyonlds number! Write back soon my friend, I'm enjoying this to well. Gary M.

Name your Flint contacts Gary, I cut my teeth with those folks starting in the '80's. You should at least remember MBR Balancing. Spent any time at the corner of Richfield & Belsay?

Pics please...this would be more interesting than reading about 2 guys whipping out dicks on a head porting thread....Devon, don't take the bait:pray:.

This is why I don't go to Yellowbullet (other than the cyl. head porn thread!). Everyone has a weakness.

    Carry on gents!

On your BBB engine with the 750 hp goal using iron block, iron heads, are you restricting yourself to 455 cu inches?

About what year in the 80's? I was only ten in 1982 ok. No, I don't remember MBR at all, do you remember rat tech on Dort hwy how about shannon's out in Cilo,mi, how about Burton automotive machine shop on Davison road near center rd? That's where I got a good training at! There is also Dort Hwy Automotive machine shop that I worked at for ten days trying to learn the crank grinder! If you are talking about where the old Kustom speed shop was, then yes I do remember where its at. I have traveled all over michigan getting to know some of the big shot names out there. For example, I have been at Dart before! A friend of mine knew one of the helpers in the designing area. I never got to meet anyone there though. Do you know where the GM proven grounds are? There is a real high end machine shop not far down the road from them called Sterling Performance , they do do some very high end stuff there. Gary M.

Yes, just haveing the cylinders bored! Here is a question for anyone on here, has anyone did all the necessary work on the connecting rods then sent them out to have nitrided? Just a thought again .I'm hoping to hit my goal but if not making it then I'll be in atleast a 100 or more horsepower range! Its gonna be fun atleast.

It will be pictures of the engine in the car not torn apart. I never got pictures of the stroker 383's chevys I did. Remind you this now, I did my work on this engine's for free and never asked a dime for my work! Why you ask? Simple, I get a thrill out of hearing my engines firing for the first time and then going to see them run at the track! Some get adrenaline by jumping out of perfectly good airplanes , I get mine by building engines and then hearing them fire up for the first time. This is way I have such a high passion for building engines! Gary M. P.s. I have a few pics to share don't worry.

Thanks Gary, I wasn't sure of your age. It seems Rat-Tech is alive and well though the folks I worked for then didn't use them. Unfortunately, Burton Auto is closed as of a few years ago, as is Shannon's Engine Service in Montrose.

As for name-dropping, if there was one instance that I was glad you did it, it was Shannon's Engine Service. They took great care of me over the years after I got the runaround by two other shops in Flint. FYI, it was Shannon himself who did the machine work on my iron heads, the ones pictured and worked with him into the mid '90's even though I was a few hours away. I checked up on his shop when I was in the neighborhood and found it closed in 2012. I hope he's enjoying a well earned retirement.

    Edit:

Gary, your enthusiasm is commendable. Based on your current situation as you described in other topics here, maybe focusing on what you can do to improve your current situation would be time better spent rather than critiquing/debating others, phone-calling folks in the industry already established, etc. Always remember to take good care of yourself, and loved ones first.

Very gentlemanly response, just like one might expect from a Buick board.

Devon, Shannon's in Montrose just did a friend of mines 421 small block that I was councciling on just three weeks ago! I think the old man only works part time because his kids run it noe. Yes , I have been around in flint a lot and a lot of the shops are closing up do to bad economy . Thank you for saying what you did. I saving alittle money here and there to buy parts and it might take a while but, I'll have my ducks in a roll by then ;)

Len, you must not believe in your dreams then, the reason I say that is, I was born and raise in Flint, Michigan and my whole family has been in some sort of racing ( that includes street racing) all their lives and for one second if you don't think one of my family members didn't have a Buick! You dead wrong. I choose to take the easy way with chevy for over 8 yrs and went to ford for around six yrs but got out of it because I had children. I was building a very nasty 302 ford that wouldve made close to 500 hp with Iron heads! Yes I had a very big shot do my heads but I did everything else to the engine. Yes, I even did my own maching to the darn thing while I worked at Burton automotive. machine shop. I was only lacking my transmisson that I was paying on ($1500.00 tranny) with a 4500rpm coan converter . I had a 1984 Mustang That I bought for $200 no tran or motor and no rust. My trust little beast had five grand in just the top half of my 302. The rest was from people I knew. I sold piece by piece until it was totally gone. Now, my children are out diapers , I have some extra cash and my wife wants a drag/street race car and she gave me the go ahead not me. Remind you again I was going to go the easy way again but my uncle said this" way spend $5000.00 for less then 510 ft lbs of torque, when you can put a stock Stage 1 455 in there and have it" that's why I'm doing what I'm doing.

Hmmm, you're on Social security, asking for a grant for education, yet you can afford a street/race car? Maybe I better get signed up...

You have no clue, do you? I barter for my stuff, besides that, my uncle wants me to find the parts and be part of this project. My Grant is for me to try to get off ssid and do a job that won't destroy my back! Its like this , If I can work atleast 30+ hours then I can get off ssid ;) Its a win win thing and it benefits me because I'll be highly trained then. I don't even know if my back will handle it yet. I busted my arse resurfacing hardwood floor and other various back breaking work to earn my hard earned money. I'm not the type that liked to seat on the arse behind a deck and steer at a computer and earn big bucks! I always believed my grandfather on his philosophically, work hard to earn your money don't take the easy way out. That shows your a hard working man, not lazy! That's why I take great pride in what I do because tomorrow my never come..... Gary M.

I think you are doing well by working to get off the assistance so hats off to you!

There is no doubt that you have a lot of passion, and that is all it takes to make dreams a reality!

Keep up the good work, i would love to hear about a low buck 455 that makes big power.

The only guy i know who is running super fast with a really low buck BBB is Ron Butz, and he certainly shows it can be done!

I was going through my magazine articles that I cut out and came across this one, its called "A Fat Cat '72 Buick That Acts Like A Cheetah On Caffeine " or this "Hey,Tubby!". Ron Chilenski of Stage 1 Automotive. made his .060 over 455 cranked out 700 hp on all cast iron Buick. "Block and heads" the internals was a work of art though! The cylinder heads were done by none other then Greg Gessler. The cam was a TA roller cam. That assures me that the heads can breath good enough for possible another 50 hp if a speciality cam is ground! I told you all I'll be doing my homework . Gary M.
