Hey Rob, just get the check and I have a pal who can get you a great deal on a 2000 Featherlite, V nose, rear door reads LAGNAPIE RACING TA/JD in ORANGE/CHROME letters. 36" RV style side door. New Goodyear G159 tires on 16' WHITE RIMS with chrome center caps. Drivers side fender is a little mangled from a blow out. Passenger side fender has gash up inside from a blow out on that side, You can only see it if you look up into the fender. The trailer is NOT lined on the inside(bare studs). There is a solar panel in the roof vent. There is a winch inside and a battery in a box. Pit pal fold down shelf unit, oil bottle holder, tie down holders,2 place fuel can holder. Digital clock/weather station mounted front center (extra).
It's a Haulmark...big Onan generator, air compressor, welder, winch, cabinets, electric jacks, finished interior and BLACK...it "was" pretty handy, and the exact trailer I've wanted for as long as I could remember. I'm pretty bummed, cause we've got one of our favorite shows the weekend after next, and then our show in St. Louis 2 weeks after that, and then Stanton...and had committed at least 2 cars to each event. [Edit: I just got it, Donny! You are an ornery cuss aren't ya??!! LOL!!]
BTW, whoever is trying to send me a PM, try again. I got an email that said my "Inbox is full", yet there's only 1 PM in it? o No:
Check your inbox "from the beginning". It might be full and you're just checking the last five days worth.
Well, I guess that it is a good thing I haven't racked any miles on the Hurst to speak of. I may need all of the miles remaining to drive to Stanton. I am going to look at doing whatever I can to make it there, it may just take a little more money $$. Bummer about the trailer, Rob. I hope that you can get everything worked out. I may have to skip the Supercar reunion race so that I can make Stanton. Hodgesgi and I may be taking a northern route to Stanton. It will all come out in the wash.ou:
Rusty: we were on the phone with the insurance people all morning, and are gonna do the same tomorrow...but my guess is we'll be *lucky* to have a usable 2 car enclosed by next spring...
Damn Rob me and you need to put some 3.23 gears in our cars and forget these damn trailers. I know what ya mean about having your dream trailer...I REALLY LOVED my Featherlite and I want it back. I'm sorry to say that if was unhooked from the van it's long gone and won't be back in Ohio anytime soon. And Donny...F-you very much:moonu:
"Are you available for weddings & barmitzvahs?" Welp, the insurance company sent someone by today to check out the carnage...not a representative from an insurance company, just some local yocal to take pictures! I guess he's the designated official photographer or something. Anyway, he said he couldn't speak for anyone else, but the rule of thumb is that if the repair estimate is 75% (or more) of the "value" then it's deemed totaled. We're easily in the 50-75 percent range depending on who you talk to. Everyone in the enclosed trailer business seems to agree that these things hold their value very well, which I can attest to as we've purchased 2 trailers in a years time. It just sucks, because the actual insurance adjuster isn't gonna let us know until next week sometime, which means our chances of having ANYTHING this season are pretty much screwed. I wanted to go off on the guy, but he's just a pee-on with a camera, not the one who's gonna sign the check. Best we can tell, to replace it with a new Haulmark Elite is gonna take about 12 weeks (because it's black), there are slim to none used models out there this time of year, and the Haulmark factory has an opening Aug 9 to repair it if need be...all depending of course if the insurance company will get off it's @ss...
Whys stick with the Haulmark Rob, there's TON'S of other stuff out there right now. I've seen some killer deals on 40' and up. JH
Rob, WHATEVER YOU DO....DO NOT BUY A VINTAGE TRAILER! No matter how cheap the price or how good it looks...VINTAGE TRAILERS ARE CRAP!
Rob, I know I have mentioned racingjunk.com and also H&HTrailers. Check out the Big Brute from H&H. Not trying to apply any pressure here bud!:bglasses:
Well, Mike's post kinda answers the "why". I know what I'll be getting with a Haulmark, as we've owned 2 of them, and I'd hate to switch brands and find out the hard way that they're cheaper for a reason. That's not a knock on any other brand(s), as I'm sure there are some good alternatives out there, but I was satisfied with what I "had"...so why settle for less? Anyway, I'd say the insurance people are gonna rebuild this thing, but I'd gladly take a look at any "killer deals" on anything 44 feet or longer just in case...
Rant time... We FINALLY got the adjuster on the phone...they were supposed to call MONDAY, but didn't return our calls or bother to call us, and dad finally caught them today (Thursday). And of course, they're draggin' ass...they said they're investigating, so it's gonna be a while! While their client hit our trailer, they said it was the other vehicle's fault, and they haven't been able to find the other driver! This is a town of 600 people, and their names are in the phone book, yet these clowns can't find them! Heck, just call ANYONE in Alton, MO, and they'd give you their number! And chances are good that they're related to 'em as well! So, dad and the adjuster had a nice argument over how long the trailer is gonna be down, and the adjuster simply blew it off as "your company would drag their feet also if they were in our shoes". They understood we were gonna be without a trailer, but it "wasn't their problem, that's just the way it's gonna be". Nice. This is AAA insurance, folks, not some podunk insurance outfit we found here in Hillbillyville! Now, with that off my chest, I need a favor: could you guys do some looking for a 44+, gooseneck, black, enclosed, (preferably Haulmark, but would consider other brand), new or used, tri-axle trailer? Who knows WHAT they are gonna do, as we were "supposed" to have it back at Haulmark MONDAY for the repairs to start if they went that route...so they've screwed that date up, and now I've about decided to stick 'em with a new trailer. But it's gonna be AT LEAST comparable to OUR trailer, and I'd kill to have it by the end of August... -------------------------- Hillbilly Racing Team AAA Insurance can SUCK MY @SS!
One of the best places to find such a trailer is the back pages of National Dragster. Anyone here an NHRA member? If you can't find a 44+ foot gooseneck in there, maybe it's time to upgrade to a big rig; there's always a few of those for sale in ND. That's why bad stuff happens to good people -- so they have an excuse to upgrade.
