Well I spent a good bit of time last night trying to find any knowledge base about headers for a SBB into a G-body with no definate answer or a very thorough explanation on how the install went on a pair of A-Body Hooker Headers. So, I am looking for a pair of headers that I can dice up and ding up to see if I can get them to fit. Anyone that has any experience in this arena? I like the idea of using TA performance products if there is minimal "customization" but would like to do as much due dilligence first before I start carving up $500.00 worth of headers.

im not sure what size your engine is, but i bought mine from sanderson, they fit perfectly, except, when the engine is first warming up they kind of bump against the steering gear box. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/

I guess this is a stupid point on my part, but the headers for a big block buick are the same weather its a or g body. cant see why the small block ones would be any different. i would call ta and see what they suggest for your app. dont get me wrong i have the 2" primary headers in my regal with the bbb, and they didnt fit without alot of swearing but i still didnt have to cut anything. you might have to heat and bend or ding here or there.unfortunatly i have done 5 small block swaps but they have all been using the manifolds.

There are no 350 headers that fit the G bodywithout MAJOR mods. The hooker headers are the closest, so order those... You still need to do some cutting, fabricating patches and welding to make it work. The TA and Poston headers are WAY worse a fit in the G body.

Cutting and patching as in the header not the frame. I did find this thread and it went into some small details.

If you need some headers to cut up I have a set Ill give you for shipping. They are already boxed up ready to go. They are rusted and badly dinged on the bottom but if you turn them into shorties or cut out the sections as consequence to making them fit it sure beats spending $400

Hey that will work great. Just figure out shipping to 45103 and send me a pm and ill send the money over to you via paypal if that is ok???

I appreciate it! It will do us with this swap some good, ill make sure to post what is found and what needs to be done to insure a fit.

These for a 350 buick right, just 2x checking....

I received an email from Mike at TA expressing a possible interest in making a run of headers if we could gauge some interest. I'll plan on making some prototypes from the set that Dauntless is sending and if we get some interest Mike will go to town making them.

Check your PMs, I did a rough estimate for shipping but Ill get back to you tonight with a more accurate price. Yes they are for a Buick 350. I really hope this works out as I would like to see a run of G-body headers one day. I would definitely be down for a set as I am putting a 350 in my Regal one day

There are thousands of 231 (3.8) powered Regals that are just begging for a Buick 350 swap... The alt, starter, power steering, enine mounts, etc all swap for ther Buick 350 swap...

I am not a purist... I like all different brands, and do not care what people use for and engine... Some people get way too up tight LOL!

I used Hooker Super Comp headers in my G body with no interference or modifications. I installed the 350 with v 6 motormounts & torque bar to drivers side frame to keep from breaking mounts.

    Jason,

You still have the car? ANd if so can you take a few pics on the clearance? Sounds as if I have the same set up as yours. Did you put them in a Regal, Monte, Cutty?

I put a set of USED Hooker 350 Buick headers on the 350 I had in a 83 Regal YEARS ago. If I recall, one of the power steering bracket bolts wouldn't fit right, but that was about ten years ago...Only hard part was getting some of the flange bolts tight; Hardest part was swapping out the starter after headers were in. Now THAT was a PITA.

Well at this point Daunless found his headers in really bad shape and we will put everything on hold tillI find a good set if used to experiment with.

Thanks to Dauntless for offering the help!

I had my 350 in a '81 Cutlass. I took the power steering out and replaced the steering box with a manual unit from an S-10. I had no issues as Steve did. Sorry to say I no longer have the car.

I spent a good bit of time on the header into the 81 Olds Cutlass this evening. Most of the time was spent looking for dropped screws and such. I ordered a set of Hooker 1103HKR for a A Body Skylark. I am very happy to say that the installation was a breeze. No cutting, no bending, no fuss, just the normal frustrations on any project. The passenger side header was the hardest to install due to trans lines and such. THe passenger side barely touches the lower control arm mounting frame. I figure it will bend in a tad on its own, or I could heat a tad a bend an 1/8" or so. Drivers side couldnt have fit any better. I ran into an issue with the column shifting linkage hitting the top side of the collector when placed into gear. After I $hit myself for about 20 minutes I decided to straighten the bent linkage and now the shifting is smooth and the indicator is on target. Below are some pics. Cant wait to drive it now!
