Has ANYONE driven their 350 with the aluminum heads?

Porter I talked with at Livernois Motorsports said to get sbb irons to flow, he would have to weld and fill some areas up.
I liked those Gessler wild 350 heads he had pictured on his website. They were epoxy filled.

    That explains A LOT!
Stevem alluded to this very same thing on the 350 heads when he was tutoring me on the phone, he said some areas are too large!
That also explains (I think) why my latest ported iron are so responsive compared to my older irons ported (hogged out) by Gellner:rolleyes:

The NHRA guys have to have stock port volume but can reshape them.

I wish I had flow #'s on the last set of ported big valve 350 I had. Dave Johnson did them for me in the 90's on their flowbench when he was automotive engineering school. Engine was very strong but life got in the way & never ran it @ the track.

When he was all done he told me I would hit 6k RPM really fast. Because of (I think) fuel delivery issues, I've only hit 6k a few times before my pressure drops to 2psi and noses over. I'm working on that as soon as the weather breaks. New tank, RobbMc sender, lines, RobbMc pump. If all that fails I'm gonna bolt on Mart's Holley and see what happens.

The tank causes more issues with psi drop than anything else so make sure it's baffled or sumped

Those heads should run good and I would get Mart's Holley anyways. lol
and put on some DR's cause anything else is going to broil.

I don't care for qjets....I think that's your problem, not fuel starvation. You'll be over soon....:D:D:D

Speaking of Q Jets, I may toss mine on this spring and see if the engine reacts differently (no bog) with the new ported irons.
I have a theory, I wanna see if it holds water or not :D

I put a pressure gauge on, ran it through my hood and taped it too my windshield. I watched it drop from 7psi to 2psi. :(

Idk, but maybe still could be carb restriction causing that.
I have a few extra AC Delco fuel pumps too....:):):)
I had a crappy Airtex pump years ago. Never again.

Well at the very least I'll know for sure what's not causing it, after going through everything up to the carb.

I still don't think the Qjet is the problem, but if you're right and the Holly fixes the problem after all that, Ill buy you lunch at the Brown Iron Brewhouse :)

This only pertains to the SP3 intake and the Q-Jet, There will not be enough of a pump shot for the big hole in the intake for the Q-Jet to not bog.... Unless you run a really high gear then the secondaries will be able to operate. without bogging the engine. The rpm cannot go up fast enough for the heavy car so will bog until the rpm gets going.
It takes 3500 rpm for the 350 to get moving with any cam over stock so it better have a 3500 stall or bigger gears to get to that point.
The 455 does not have this problem it has enough TQ to get the heavy car moving before bogging, and I think that is why you do not get the bog on those engines.

Demko told me he is going to set up a hose from a can of starting fluid to shoot in the carb of the Q-Jet to get it from bogging. lol
If you going to try the q-jet put a bigger pump shot on it and put in bigger squirters on carb.
or put max shot from pump and put in smaller squirters on to get the pump shot to be longer and may give enough shot for the secondaries to turn on.

I'm experiencing the exact opposite. No bog from the line. I get a great hook right up to 4k or so then the fuel drops off like someone shut off the spigot!

At 4k the secondaries try to open and.. blah. hooks up? should be broiling the tires. So when is the big race between you and Mart lol
Me and Demko had a showdown we very close could be anybody's race (if he could drive off the light lol)
