I haven't heard of anyone other than Mike, Jr even with a running engine using the Al heads. While I'd love to have a set, they would double the cost of my recent rebuild.

Maby Mike Jr. is still very shaken up after his accident..
I see no other reason why he hasn't put that motor in another skylark and brought it down a track..It would sure make some SBB people happy.

I believe that’s Jay Michaels car, he’s like a max effort car.
How bout a car with minimal effort, to get an idea what the heads do;)
N/A, no power adders to skew the improvements of the heads.

As in no porting? Just plug an play as TA claims I think 30 hp.
I think a 20 to 25 hp. gain on a stock 70 high compression 350 would be good. Then the weight savings would be good too.

Do you think Jay M might try to port them more? but at this point he has to be exhausted with all the work he's put into it:D

Porting would be good, but what I meant was a full weight GS with conservative gearing like my car, no full race 4.10’s
If TA would send me a set to try at the track THAT would be very nice of them:p
I “think” Jay Michael has gone as far as he wants too, or maybe as far as he can N.A.
Honestly I wasn’t interested in what Sean was doing with the turbo with the aluminum heads, the addition of a turbo would muddle the gains of the aluminum heads just by themselves, plus his stuff was never done, always something else needed to be done.

Sounds like there were way more people saying they were interested in them than actually received a set..That's too bad. At one time I was interested in a heavy built 350 but,I just went BB instead.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

That's a NA car. I think that speaks well to what the heads can do.

First I'd seen Jay's videos! Wow.

There will always be the eternal search for more, but there's a price to pay and it's not aways dollars, it's "what next"?

Optimizing a combination is a tricky thing. Valve timing and in/out flow, changing one thing may very well mean having to change many others which means everything from top to bottom for the whole car.

I'm trying to remember reports of bolting on TA's big block aluminum heads with no other changes. There may be some stories out there via club newsletter & such, but still that is comparing apples to oranges, so the saying goes.

Like Larry, I never intended my TA SE heads to arrive without some extra work, thanks to the late Greg Gessler. So, I have no back-to-back comparison to offer on the out of the box bolt on.

It's probably true for the new small block aluminum head situation; most folks are likely to have made some other changes along with adding the new cylinder heads, as cast, and as modified.

He was killing it with ported irons too!
    IIRC he had 3.42’s
    He’s got something deeper now

Yes it really is, I’ll probably never own a set, WELLLL, maybe someday, who knows:cool::(;)

If I had them, I would run them. I don't like having a lot of shelf parts unless I'm building up for a future build. Something that expensive I'd want to use sooner than later.

The real victim here is TA Performance. After years of begging and pleading for heads the SBB crowd turns their back on the project when it comes time to pay up. TA has gotta be well over six figures in this project and will lose their shirts. You can bet confidently that this will be the only run ever.
