"GS Thunder" random acts of Buick kindness- some free parts folks!

I have a 455 HEI distributor. Jim Weise recurved it, but I'm not sure if it let go or not. All new electronics (well, a year old, anyway). I'll never use it again, and I don't suggest using it either because if the inherent issues with the HEI system. But if someone is married to the idea of using a GM HEI in their car they can have it.

Oh, and I like the idea of a "Free Parts" forum, and a "Will Trade For" forum!:TU: :TU: :TU:

I am thrilled by what is happening here. Thanks to Al and Evans for kicking this off in the right direction. :beer

This is the kind of thing that motivated me to become a member of the BPG when we were at Milan in July. I saw Larry Hymowitz helping Adam Martin set the timing on his Centurion so he wouldn't hurt it. Somebody dug up and brought me an empty Desani bottle to use for coolant recovery so I could run the Riv. I saw all the work Adam put into the Buick Parts Page. I found Yardley's page that should win an award for being the most detailed and helpful thing in the world for 1969 Riviera owners. Don't forget all the free advice from the pros (too many to name) and novices. I know that this board is not part of the BPG but it seems to feed from our club. There is no better way to keep the costs down for restoring and maintaining our cars.

I hope we can start a Forum like the one that Yardley mentioned in his post, "Free Parts" or "Trade For Parts". I know this could have some negative impact on a few used part suppliers and I don't want to see them harmed (we'll always need more of them) but it will make their prices stay more in line with what they should be.

I pity the first guy to get free parts and then try reselling them to one of us for profit.

Way to be an inspiration Al!

New forum now created, but as with anything in life, there are folks out there who feed off of someone esles generosity.

This forum will be self-moderating, meaning that if there is an uproar about something that should not be here, then responses from our group here will determine if that item is moved to the regular parts for sale forums.

I will post guidelines for this forum, in another posts.

Love to see this guys.. Lord knows I have sold my share of 70 BB fan shrouds for $50, because my customer's car just "had to have it" even if he could not afford it.

    Re: hei

Shipping schmipping. Give me your address. I used all NAPA parts in the dist and I hope I still have the 2 pigtails around here for it (one for batt + and one for tach).

One of the female connections in the cap needs a "special" pigtail which I couldn't find, so I used the regular + batt pigtail... only I had to modify the cat so it would fit. Seems there is a molded-in plastic stop in that connection that had to be removed so the terminal would go in.

I know they're around here somewhere...

I have 8 high beam T3 head lights and 1 low beam T3.they are the one with the T3 in the middle of the light bulb. I will only give 2 per person except for the first if they also want the low beam light. I also have the chrome peice for a 69 concile. This is the complete crome that lays on top of the concile. It would be ok for a driver not show without being rechromed. All i ask for is shipping cost.

  12. Wow, I go away for a weekend and look what happens? Great Stuff Here Guys!! :TU: I have probably benefited more than most from the generosity of this Buick brotherhood during the 2 years I have owned my 68 GS350. Chris has GIVEN me a 455, knowing I wanted to do a swap at some point. Scott has GIVEN me 455 frame pads and an excellent 14" chrome rim for my spare. George has GIVEN me 3 nice 15" chrome rims for my not too far off swap to 15" tires/wheels, once the 14's are bald... Many others have sold me good parts for very good prices.

This weekend I salvaged several decent pieces from a heap of a 68 GS400. Once I sort thru the stuff and make a list of it all, I will start a new thread to give it all away, although there may be a couple pieces I will need to keep for my 68.

Jim W, I have an offer for you too. Will email you.

I have given stuff away to people on this board before. It sure beats having it sit around the garage taking up space. I feel guilty, because I don't have anything to give away right now.

    Hey,
You guys better watch out, E-Bay will ban you for destroying their business. There's an idea, you can call the new forum "Free Bay".

Will be doing the overhaul on my 66 Riv this winter, may have some leftover parts and will offer them up.
