Al Fiandaca (GS Thunder) really stepped up and showed himself as a class act by selling me a 70 carb recently with the proper date code needed for a very affordable price. For those that aren't familiar with this deal, check out my looking for an early build 7040240 Quadrajet thread. Basically what he said was that he would do this favor as a way of protesting his and many persons observations of price gouging and taking advantage of others such as Ebay ("Greed Bay" as I like to refer to it). He had said he hoped his act of kindness to me might become contagious. As a way of returning the thanks to Al, following his class lead, and also to thank others for all the help and support I've received off this board; I'm giving away a few free Buick parts. Yes, that's right, GIVING away as in FREE. I'll also pay the shipping as well. Hoping that these few items can benefit someone in need. Here goes: 1) one 65 GS lapel pin in excellent shape, 2) one 72 GS/ Skylark/ Sportwagon owner's manual- average to good condition, 3) set of used T-3 headlights- two high beams/ two low beams. These were packed about a year ago and were working when boxed. This package also has a 68 or 9 Skylark rear quarter marker. It was boxed for an individual who later backed out of the sale.

First to email to this thread (not a PM) will be considered first for these items. If you need any of these for yourself, reply.... please don't respond if you are going to turn around and sell it. Let your conscience be your guide there. I'll have some a few more parts later I'm sure but wanted to start here. To me, it's more about helping someone than selling stuff to make a profit. I like to see things in the hands of those in need and would give you something I had an extra of if I didn't need it. I'll also advocate as Al did about wanting to see others follow suit in random acts of Buick parts kindness! Anybody else want to step up to the plate??

PM me with your name, shipping address and I'll get them out to you this week. As I mentioned, they were working when I boxed them a year ago and they have sat in my garage on a shelf snce then. I would imagine they will all be working still. Glad to be of assistance to you!

It's yours Taylor. PM me with address. I had to clean out my PM box (too full) and don't have that info as I did before.

This leaves just the 72 owner's manual for now- hurry, hurry, step right up!

I am on board.I have been offering freebie stuff on here to help others for a while.I am disgusted about prices on ebay too.I think Ebay is good and bad for our hobby.Good for finding parts bad for prices.I only ask for shipping reimbursement when I make a deal.As for Al,I met him last weekend at Berwyn and he was definitely a stand out guy.We even talked about this very subject. It takes just a few acts of kindness to get this started and I will be willing to trade or give away for parts that I need for some extras I have.If only I could find a unbroken 70 taillight and the Buick emblem in the middle of the bumper that wasn't bent up to put in my fiberglass bumper.
    Pat

Emblem is gone to John MacDonald!Still have the other piece.

    Pat,

Wish I could help you out with your needs but I don't have spare of either of those. Maybe some one will step up and help you out or trade some parts with you. Glad your on board and have exhibited kindness too! I hear on that ebay thing- I have bought parts on there but would never sell on that medium. You are correct as that it is a good tool for locating parts for our cars. Helping each other out just seems like the right thing to do!

    Pat,

I think there is a lens in the free bumper I've offered...I'll give it a look tomorrow. I can't cover shipping on free stuff.

The hardest thing is seperating the quality parts from the garbage. I see and have fallen victim to Ebay junk bandits more often than I would like to admit.

    Pat,

You are correct that Evans generosity (beginning w/Al) will inspire other's to do the same. The Buick community is relatively small, but, the people who are on this board have been nothing but friendly, HELPFUL people to anyone who visits here, regardless of tastes or personality.
The support shown by the members of this board and the Buick community as a whole is a large part of my plan on keeping my Buick for MANY years to follow. I am very proud to be a member of this community.
Sorry for rambling, the 'random acts of kindness' brings out the best in people....
    :Comp:

When (if) my Buick comes back from the shop and is pieced back together, I plan on continuing the 'gift of giving'.. I have too many parts stored up to use.... Onto the next Buick nut...

Thanks for being there for all of us!

I agree. Al has expressed his sadness with the Buick community and it's $1000 grilles and $700 overflow bottles, and I too, am offended that a family such as ours succumbs to greed just because there is a "it's rare, I have it, you want it, so pay up" attitude.

I've given away many parts, and also received free parts. I also have sold rare Riv parts for cheap just because I feel a need to keep these cars alive and I feel friendship is more valuable than the dollar. So there are many people who think along the same lines as us in this thread, and I give kudos to them!

Also, the professionals like Jim Weise who freely give their time, advice and money to this community are to be commended. While we know it costs a lot of money to make new parts, and therefore the cost of those parts will be high, we are really more focused on used parts that should be going for good prices. Wheel lip moulding for my Riv was quoted at over $100 a piece from a Buick supplier with access to a junkyard. I find that gross and unjust. We're not talking NOS pieces either, but scratched and dinged old parts from a junkyard.

Let Al's example start a "Pay it Foreward" mentality and help to keep our family a "family".

Well said Yardley! When all is said and done, it's the people we've met, friendships and relationships, etc and not just the cars. Giving of one's self is a very commendable act.

    Pat,

If Matt finds that he doesn't have a lens that'll work for you I've got a spare here that you may have.

72 GS/ Skylark/ Sportwagon owner's manual still available. Price is right too as it's FREE! Someone speak up for this so I can make one trip to US Post Office for mailing of free goodies! Surely someone with a 72 car might be without and could use this?

    My turn now.
I have a couple of items that I will be willing to help others out with.1st is the piece that the battery cable and the starter wires go through and bolts to the oil pan for a 455 I believe. It is pretty decent shape and you will have to remove the cable end that goes on the starter and push it through it then put a new end on.2nd is a decent driver quality 68 GS grille emblem part #1383366.needs repainted.I 'll have to look but I may also have a 65 GranSport grille emblem too. Will have to look first before I commit to it.I'll post later if I find it.Yours for the price of shipping.First pm will get it free.Would like to also have 2 people get these so we can share around.

I just wanted to mention that I was talking to Al at the Berwyn bash and commented how the distributor in my car wasn't numbers matching. His immediate response was "I have a bunch of distributors at home, and if I have one with the correct numbers, it's yours".

I'm also attaching a picture of a grill emplem Scott Miller sent to me no charge- he even included shipping! His only request was that I join the BPG, which I gladly did. Now this emblem is an original correct '71 emblem, not a repro. Carl Rychlik painted it for mr (thanks Carl) and it looks darn nice. Have you seen what these things go for? (assuming you can find one) Thanks again, Scott!

I have several other examples of people going out of their way to help out. I'm not sure how many of you belong to other car clubs for other makes, but I'll tell you the Buick guys are different, in terms of people's attitudes, than other clubs I belong to.

    Very refreshing.

I have a REAL NICE set of parking lights for a 71 - 72 GS that I purchased for my 70 , which I now know are not the same. Free to anyone who needs them and promises to NOT just resell them. I'll even pay for ground shipping in the lower 48!

May be we should have a new "Trades R US" forum.

Now that's what I'm talkin about...:TU: We're a small group in the car world, but we can show the other guys how we've gotten our Buicks to the respected position they enjoy now.
Tell you what, I'm gonna go through the garage and see if I can offer up any more parts. How many of us have stuff that is just sitting around collecting dust? Maybe selling it won't bring a windfall because it's not NOS or perfect, so it sits on the shelf. Why not offer it up to someone who could really use it?... :Do No:
    Let's keep it going guys.
