If it's a one wire sender I would also suspect a bad ground connection. That's why you can't resort to thread tape to try and fix a weeping sender - it's likely to break to ground connection to the block.

The Dakota Digital gauges I fitted all had two wire feeds so there was no issue with grounds.

If the gauge is ALWAY'S pegged & is connected. Dis connect the wire & ground it,now it should read all the way to cold.

Ah so that would rule out the gauge being broken and the connection, thank you

Good news, wire was grounded and read 0 pressure. Took off the old sender and now we wait until napa opens in 7 hrs 2 minutes

Bought the new sender, installed, its golden. Now I have a "factory installed" 3 piece set of gauges.

There are 2 different oil pressure senders, 60 and 80 psi. I would not depend on factory gauges. You need a good set of oil and temperature gauges to see how the 2 sets of readings correlate.

Hey Larry, I’m a newbie and this weekend purchased a set of gauges for my 350 2bl. I was doing some inspections on the vac lines and when I touched the thermovac switch the broke literally 3 broke off the ports. So my ? Is when I’m installing the temp prob can I use this and get rid of the thermovac switch the reason I’m asking is because I was gonna order one and replace. I’ve read you say to just connect one of the vac lines can u tell me which one and where to connect it? And what to do with the other lines thanks

Yes, remove the TV switch and use the opening for the gauge sender. Run one vacuum line from the carburetor to the vacuum advance. The other line that supplies manifold vacuum goes to the air cleaner temperature sensor. Just plug it if you aren’t using it.

Ok does this still apply for 2 bbl carb it’s a 350, there is a line running off the passenger side port of the carb to the distributor already but my TVS was a 4 port so I’m teally confused as to where those other 4 hoses go and if that is the right one on the distributor

Not familiar with the later model 350 emission control. There is only 2 types of vacuum, ported and manifold. The vacuum advance gets ported. If you have EGR and EFE, you’ll need to consult the chassis manual to see what kind of vacuum is required to keep the emissions control working or eliminate them completely.

It always helps if you state what year engine/car you are working on.

Hey Larry is this the setup or the compression fittings and tee that I would need to install a gauge? I tried searching and this is about all I could find as far as what’s needed to keep the light and add tee in I also tried to click on the link of a pic u provided but it comes up as a error

The fittings you need depend on the kind of gauges you have, and the sizes you need. There are several ways to do the same thing.

Larry I’m having a hard time getting my oil pressure sending unit off I be purchased all the fitings needed and even purchased the socket to remove the sending unit but either someone has tried before and stripped it because when ever I go the torqe it off it just slips so after busted knuckles I’ve given up. You gave more pics above and I’m wondering can u tell me where that location is and how to connect using this location and is there any others for the the oil temp gauge I really need to get that installed ASAP thanks
