I'll definatly get pics and the wife will help me post them up. It doesn't look to different. Just looks like alot of wiring that you normally don't see under the hood of one of these cars. The main TB assembly looks like a Holley carb basically I'm even still using the same drop base air cleaner and 3" K&N air filter, think I'm going to drop to a 2.5" filter for just alittle more hood clearance its tight now with the spacer and NOS plate.
I'm even going to see if I can get a start up video to show how well or rough it goes right off the bat.

    Hi Guys,

Well got it fired up around 7 tonight, but it was too late to get everything in place for a ride. Will have to wait until tomorrow nite to fix a small fuel leak and go for a ride with it. First off it fired right up on the first turn of the key. Idles, and revvs MUCH faster then the Holley I had on there. If I had exhaust on the car I would have worked later and taken it for a ride, but have to be alittle respectfull of the neighbors after running with open headers for 30 minutes in the driveway!

And yes its the Retrotek kit. 750 version, with cast Throttle body. I didn't adjust anything from the Holley just removed the return springs and throttle arm, then simply reattached them to the Retrotek unit. So far I have about 3-4 hours total time into the install and have about an hour left to get it 100% ready for WOT testing!!!

What kind of fuel pump does the system use? How much fuel pressure?

i'm almost tempted to get this for the twinturbo build.
about thr most simple fuel injection there is, and the CPU wont crap out from too much power like stock units would..

as 750 csu carb is 925 dollars...750 retrotek is 1495...not much extra for better tuneability/driveability

i think nicks is a projection 1 unit..think they replaced it with the projection 3 units
projection 2 is the new style fuel injection while prohectionb 3 is still TBI

I have spoken with Retrotek and they can build a custom setup although the $1495 version will not supply 900 hp.

This is why I am setting my intake up for direct port fuel injection because 8 smaller injectors is better than 4 flat out injectors, plus this way I can adjust each cylinder individually via laptop. Who knows maybe I will not even need the 10 shot of nitrous to each cylinder via direct port bungs? Here is what they said when I asked about using their kits for the turbos at 700-900 hp:

    Sean,

Cool setup. I would love to tell you to throw the Powerjection III on there and forget about it, but that would be lying. I have seen guys make 700hp with (4) 75lb injectors in the throttle body, but that is on the edge. You could do it if you upped the fuel pressure to make the injectors flow more. But I would recommend going with a multiport setup, that way you could use 8 smaller injectors and keep good idle characteristics while making all the power you want. Using (8) 50lb injectors would be perfect for you. Then I would just put an aluminum throttle body on top of the manifold (Accufab makes about the nicest piece).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Thank you,

The car is loaded on the trailer right now and is going to the exhaust shop tomorrow. I took the car around the block last nite, but it is running way too rich right now and it sounds like a prostock car, due to the open headers and raw fuel going out the pipes. Tomorrow the exhaust and O2 sensor get installed then it can start its adaptive cycle.
But one thing of note here, I reached in the window and turned the key and the car started right up on its own immidiatly and its 45 degrees! let me see a carburated car do that.

I'll update drivability of the system once I start to drive it.

PS I took video tonight of the car with open headers and a quick overview of the fuel injection system. I'll post all the videos up once I have it all compiled.

Awesome! That is a far cry from my multi-port Megasquirt system with a million wires!

He is understating the complexity. That setup was intended to replace a carb in a "Standard" application. For a real turbo / FI setup, you need something more complex (and more expensive). Feel free to PM / email me to discuss.

Alright guys we have BLAST OFF!! Exhaust is done, and everything is installed for the system. This thing runs awesome, I can't believe the drivability it has. Either my carburater was total junk or this system is just that good. The car is quieter while cruising around, the exhaust is much cleaner smelling no more smell in the car. The car launches nice and strong and clean now! No more slow crap out of the hole. There is alot more part throttle torque, this motor now feels like a new fuel injected V8, smooth and torquey. This is what a BUICK is supposed to drive like. Now I just need to tidy things up and retune the nitrous and then I can schedule some track time.
