hi, i drive a buick skylark 1967, 300cui according to the registration document.(from switzerland) But last time on the car elevator, on the reverse side of the motor-block, seen/standing from the drivers-side, is a number embedded: 340-...... also suspekt is the 4 bbl intake trakt....orginal for a 300cui would be a 2 bbl. the motor code letter on the upper side is NL for a 300cui (on the intake manifold + motor/curbside) !? -casting no.1374557 5 back onto the transmission. -on the intake manifold B1374559F. -on the exhaust manifold 1375912 + 1375907. in the manul stands "NL" for 300-2 bbl !!?? please help me. thanks steve
Please post the VIN, there is a difference between the 4 drs sedan and the 4 drs HT sedan. Does it start with 4 44 39 7 ? The HT sedan and the SportWagon came with the 340 engine. Engine codes are NB, NX or NA. (The 4 barrel 340 engine code is NB) Don't rely too much on the Swiss documents.
the VIN 444397H221132 what´s the differenz between the 4-dr sedan and the 4-dr HT sedan? it´s no convertible, it´s a hardtop. thanks a lot
Your car is a 4drs hardtop sedan. If you roll all the windows down, there's no pillar in the middle. Are you from the Dusseldorf area ?
Your server is from Dusseldorf: Jan-05 12:27 IP Adres: 84. and on..... Land: Germany Stad: Dusseldorf Deutsche Telekom Ag Do you know about the German Ami-Forum :Comp: ? What's the German name for Franconia ? Is it Franken ?
I thought I already answered your question with my VIN example? It's a 4 drs HT sedan with the 340 small block engine....:TU: To be 100% sure, check the Engine Coder and/or Casting Number on the engine block. Engine Codes are in my posts above, casting number for the 1967 340 engine is 1374557.
are you absollutelly sure thats a 340cui? my german workshop told me its a 300cui; also possible with a 340 intake trakt!? the engine code could be "NL or NH"... have you a website-information for me, where i can research it?
If you choose to believe what your German workshop is telling you, feel free to do so. But why are you asking your questions on this website ? You have the car there, so only you can look at the Engine Codes and the casting number. I'm only telling you which engine was the original engine for the 1967 model year Skylark 4 drs HT sedan. Good luck :TU:
sorry erik, but i need it from the forum, to many people here in the shops told me different things. but you are right frankonia = franken. i think i should check the casting number and engine letter and post it to you if its right. where are you living, erik?
if the 340 is cast into the engine block, it's a 340. I don't have a manual handy that lists the dimensions, but the major difference that is viewable to the naked eye is the width of the intake manifold. Sitting side by side, there is NO mistaking to two.
here are the numbers of the engine: the motor code letter on the upper side is "NL" (on the intake manifold + motor/curbside) !? in the manul stands "NL" for 300-2 bbl !!?? -casting no.1374557 5 back onto the transmission. -on the intake manifold B1374559F. -on the exhaust manifold 1375912 + 1375907. please help, thank you
http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/m...7f3f173a509bfb4d85256e47001a8afa!OpenDocument It is a 1966 340 intake casting number and a 340 intake will not bolt up to a 300 block.
The NL Engine Code makes it a model year 1967 300 engine that came originally with a 2 barrel carburator. 1374557 is also a casting number for a 340 engine block. <-- edited!! 1374559 is the intake manifold number for a 1966 340 engine. 1375912 is a passenger side 300/340 exhaust manifold I can't find the 1375907 number for the other exhaust manifold. Looking for the numbers is the only way to make sure what's what :TU:
i want to say sorry to you. you got absolut right . i was on my car about the codes/numbers and checkt it with the www : http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/smallblock_casting_numbers.html and http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/m...7f3f173a509bfb4d85256e47001a8afa!OpenDocument so do i understand right: its , could be a 300 cui block + 340 intake manifold ? thank you from franconia :TU:
