Can anyone give me some advice on how I can get my car documented. I have called Wayne Roberts several times and left my contact information with out any response. 313-618-6062 is the number I was given to contact Wayne. Is there another avenue I can use to document my car? I know a lot about the car as I bought it new, but I would like to know more about when it was made. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Wayne can look at the microfiche and determine what 70 cars came with what options and such. He can then look and see what numerical order that a customers GSX would be to fall in line of the 678 70 GSX cars. I have started a little project with the help of many GSX owners to see what VIN and Body number that cars were documented. They were indeed made in batches like Duane posted.Usually, not always by color.

I have seen the microfilm for the first half of the year at Sloan and it is not micorfische. It is microfilm. It is in a cartridge. you have to have a special reader or get it converted. I helped Sloan convert the 1970 and 1972 microfilm to an electronic format about 10 years ago. There was a company in Detroit that processed the documents and turned them into images files and PDF files. I am guessing Wayne is aware of the technology and hopefully paid to have it processed so he does not have to access the microfilm any more.

    Pat,

The GSX Registry has collected data on over 240 cars because I had the same interest. I have been collecting data for over 22 years now.

The cars appear to be built in batches by body number and color. Yellow looked to be in batches of approximately 30 cars. White was not exactly the same because white was used on other cars so there are bigger gaps in the white cars.

VIN numbers are not continuous and VIN and Body numbers are not both sequential meaning if you put VIN Numbers in sequential order the body numbers are not in sequential order.

    Thanks,

    Mark

For the 1970 Flint built cars, Buick had 2 rolls of microfilm detailing how each car was optioned. The Sloan Museum in Flint, MI has one, Wayne Roberts had the other one. Not sure of how he came by it. In any case, depending on the last 6 digits of your VIN number, you either have to go to Sloan or Wayne. I believe Sloan has August through November built cars, Wayne has the rest, somewhere around 193560 forward?, Not sure.

I got the information from Wayne years ago. At the time, he charged 50.00 to look it up. My car was built in the last week of January 1970. This is what I got from Wayne.

So why wouldn't Sloan and Wayne upload all the info from the microfilm for the whole world to share?? It would be nice for the hobby instead of hoarding the info and charging for ito_O

I realize it's all about money, its ALWAYS about money. That's the problem with this hobby we pay up the hoop for parts and service to begin with and then we get it up the hoop if we want any info on our cars:mad:

Hey Yellow GSX owners here are a couple more things I know about my car. The last 4 digits of the vin 4263, I bought the car from Guiffre Buick in Springfield Illinois June 26 1970. It had not been on the lot very long when I spotted it and bought it. Does any one have one close that has been documented.

That's fair. It's just strange Wayne ignores opportunities to profit from the information he owns. Who pissed in his cornflakes?

    Larry,
Is the V-7 option the WG rim with the different back space?
Or is it the G70-14 Wide Oval tires?

V-7 is 14” Super Sport Wheels which would have G70-14 tires.
