disc brake conversion, need a little help

As usual the scope of this job as grown exponentially. Anyway I'm changing springs and control arms. Any tips on lubing the ball joints on new control arms. Looks like I gotta buy a grease gun for the lowers.

 

i received new front coil springs. They have a white mark on one side. Does anyone have an idea which way is up on those. The new springs are similar to the old ones. However, they don't have a flat end.
