Just got a nice video of a coyote chasin a doe and fawn. Probably same coyote and deer I saw do that 2 years ago.
Earlier in the season I hear two deer running from my left to right, they get right in front of me and do a 90 degree turn away from me; all I see is white tails. About 2 minutes later a coyote stand up about 20 meters front of me and goes trotting off. I’ve been in the stand for more than three hours and never saw him. So far I shot 2 does and 2 bucks.
That’s a lot of meat. Nice 5x5. Public or private? Also how did you get 2 buck tags for the season crossbow and upright?
Federal land, I still have all my state tags; all with rifle. Regardless of weapon you can get two each. If you kill a both bucks in a non WMA , one of them have to be within WMA standards.
People like that need to go back to one of these and master it. And not just get a sticker for participation.
Jim we can use 22magnum up to your imagination. I use a 308, my wife uses a 30/30 Winchester during the normal season. If we don't fill out the 5 tags we go for an extra 2 weeks during muzzleloader season. I use a 50cal. Hawken flintlock competition and Jenn uses a 50cal. Hawken caplock competition series. It's great to share the time in the woods
I got this guy in 2016 behind my shop in 4 acres surrounded by residential, and it pretty much ruined hunting for me! This was in central NY taken with a cheapie crossbow during late muzzleloading season. It had 30 points, scored 229.7 and is the 3rd or 4th largest non-typical taken by any means in NY history.
Out of curiosity everyone that has responded on this thread what are your guys state regulations on albino/leucitic whitetail as does anyone know of a place that has melanistic whitetail? Here we can shoot a pie but they consider an even the bleeding of the velvet shed stain on the head as well as the hind tarsals to be albino regardless if it’s leucitic or albino categorize them together. They deer has to have a spot of brown somewhere below the neck to the hind quarters.
Seems like a piebald is taken about every 3-4 years in Minnesota. Cant remember a albino ever taken around here in 44 years. Dont believe there are any regulations that pertain to them. Myself I dont know if I would take one unless it had a rack like the one above. Some think that it is a genetic disorder that will hurt the rest of the population. And some make it unwritten to pass on them.
