    Englishtown race

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. For the record that day:
1st pass 9.71 @ 139.45 60 foot 1.29 lifted so high on launch I hit rev limiter before shifting!!!!:Do No:
    2nd pass 9.48 @ 140.37 with a 60 of 1.32 , car moved around a little had to drive it.
    3rd pass 9.43 @ 140.37 with a 60 of 1.31 , Very straight
run ,a .006 light and caught the car I was racing before stripe. I had dialed 9.45 and thought , do I want to hit brakes and go another round? No way had to go for it , and I broke out and lost.
Was a great day anyhow!! :)
    Thanks again, Rob Chilenski

    Rob,

Have you made any improvements to the combo since Norwalk? If I remember correctly you were running in the mid 60s here or was the increase strictly do to great weather??

After trying to compete with you guys last year with my Stage 1, I certainly do have a great deal of respect for what you and Massoud have done with these engines.

Also.... if you would please tell us a bit more about the combo.

    Thanks and Congrats again

    stage 1 record run

The only changes to car from last year at Cecil were:
Move engine back 2.5 inches to firewall. (No cutting)
Vacume pump on engine @ 12" setting
Stefs oil pan with kickout on starter side.
The car has been running faster all year but this was the first time I got to race in great air. I would have done it sooner but every Cecil race in the last 2 years has been so so. The Engine has not been apart in 3 years and it is time to fresen it.
    Thanks,
    Rob:grin:

NEED TO FEED ALL THOSE CUBIC INCHES

Just think.......Some good Stage 2/3 heads and you would've touched the .20's..........

Q16 qualifiyng at Norwalk we both ran .65's so I'm thinking at minus 170 lbs to your car the S2 heads are worth about 2 tenths over a max-effort iron S1

Yeah that sounds good. Maybe I can pick up a little more with the 60 pounds off the front end from aluminum heads. I might try some stage 1 aluminum heads to see what I can do with them.I do have a set of Stage 3 tall ports ready to go, but dont know if I want that much headflow!! Hey Gary , I saw a picture of your T&D rocker set up. How much do they get and have you had any problems? I like the idea of useing small block rockers since they are cheaper and easy to get.Your Car is very impresive and I think you would go more then 2 tenths faster with 200 less pounds. Let me know about the rockers.
    Thanks Rob

    GS Kubisch THE "CUT-UP" BUICK

    Thanks for the compliment Rob.....

The T&D system was around $1100 with them doing the machine work to remove the pedestals from the head and mock everything up.I can't remember if that was with or w/o shipping.
(After I saw how it was done I feel any compitent machinist can do it)

I feel very strongly that they are worth every penny!
We went with a longer than stock valve stem to get a 2 inch installed height which really helps with spring selection.
    They'll take a 1.625 spring diameter also.
I've been using a 1.550 Comp Cams spring and they have yet to lose any pressure after around a hundred runs.(6500 shifts and 6800 in the eyes).

Are you still using the Pheonix tires?
    What diameter,gear,trap RPM?

To the Buick guys from The Olds crowd:

Congrats on your passes yesterday. The best air my weather station has seen in 20 years of racing e town, although believe it or not the traction and track conditions were moderate to poor yesterday and there was a lot of bald spots and lifting of rubber through out both lanes. Records were sheerly set due to weather which actually out performed the track conditions. Second round I lit the tires up like a fuel car, went up in smoke and the dragster stood still, it was just a question of when it was gonna happen and not if, too much power and not enough traction, what a shame wasted a .503 light against the track champ Albrechs .514. Just to give you an idea about track condition, my best passes and 60 fts were in air that was aproximately 1100 feet worse than yesterday at e town. My best passes to date are 7.214@183.80, 7.226, 7.224 with 1.014, 1.016, 1.015 60 fts. Yesterday, skating and sliding all day long my passes were 7.26@182.95, 7.28, 7.31 with 1.036, 1.034, 1.081, and 1.30 slipping, slidding and driving it like I stole it the whole way down. The tires were featherd on every pass. COOL!!!!

416 inches of normally aspirated small block olds. single 750 carb.

quote "The Pheonix tires are the best hooking tire I have tried to date. end quote.

Amen, 18 years of body car racing and the Phoenix tires are the quickest and fastest tires on the market for a super stock style front end car. The quickest and fastest Phoenix tires are the 14x32 F9 or the 31.25x12.5.

That was great. How long ago was it that John owned the record? I believe he ran an 9.57 to obtain it. Well, it's gone now.
