I am amazed all the time by how basic repair work can turn into such an ordeal.
You have done all the right stuff by coming here to ask for help and going to a shop. This should have been taken care of with no problems.
Goes to show that there are a lot of "service" people out there that only know how to remove and replace major components on new cars. They have very little car knowledge.
The trick is to find a good mechanic and stick with him.

Do you know if you have a local car club where you may be able to ask around about who to take the car to?

I don't know of a local car club - I have a "friend" who supposedly knows his stuff, but you know how that goes. His knowledge of Buick specific mechanics is limited. I'd really like to find somewhere not too far away that I can get some reliable help from - a good once over from someone who knows what they're looking at would be great. Anyone know a guy in my area?

Also, to clarify what my mechanic said - according to him, 80% of the time you won't need the setup kit but for that other 20% of the time, he'd rather play it safe and have it. Sound right?
