Max Damage I'm working on it!

Thanks for the lead on a quality filter.

What is the product number of Mobil 1?

Looks like Autozone comes up with M1-107A

    OReilly’s comes up with M1-206A.

But O’Reilly’s has tended to be wrong for the 68 GS. O’Reilly’s site says the Wix 51258 doesn’t fit a 68.

I have an M1-107A on my car now. It is a smaller filter than the Wix I used before, but that filter was too big. It would hit the lower rad hose.

The only difference I have noticed from the wix is a higher cold oil pressure, and a very slightly lower hot idle pressure. I was almost 20psi with the wix. Now I am closer to 15psi.

Well I'm at the track and the Fram Racing HP5 primes much quicker than the WIX. Like 1/2 second hot vs 3 seconds with the WIX pos. And this is with a motor that has 9 seasons of racing under it's belt.
Also you can get HP5 on Amazon for $10.30 free ship right now. I wouldn't shy away from Fram due to their cheap filter reviews. This filter is heavy case and well made. Since low restriction it may not filter out the finest particles but flow especially on a race engine is important.

I’d rather have flow than super restrictive filtration.

Plus, once the smaller micron filters get dirty/clogged there is even more restriction. I thought I had worn bearings or air in my pressure line or something with the large external Poston oil pickup line. Now I love seeing that gauge pop right up rather than starting it and holding breath while gauge sits at zero and I try not to rev it.
Next I will try the K&P which has no anti-drainback and see how it does.

    Hi Jim!

Yep I still have it sitting here in the hangar. Time for an oil change and I’m sitting here wanting to know the current filter recommendations. Engine is a beast and runs amazing!
