I have a habit of running through cars like water. I finish and or turn 2 - 5 a year. Most of which I just enjoy putting together and getting back on the road, and a little profit isn't a terrible thing. But I have my 66 GTO #'s matching tri power car since 1990. It was at my wedding, been to a few too many funerals lately, and was the first car I actually bought on my own. (Not including the free 69 bonneville from my dad which I drove through high school). That is a car I will have forever. I was also able to buy its twin, a 66 GTO Tripower 4 speed, that my buddy restored in high school. I couldn't let it go when he got divorced. I gave that one to my dad, which since he has retired I think he loves the car more than me sometimes. That one will always be around. Certain cars just stay, and are apart of your personality. I had a buddy pass 2 years ago due to cancer, and I maintain his 69 SS396 camaro for his widow. She drives it a little, and it is nice it is still here. A few of us still go over, park our hot rods everywhere and drink a few too many beers in his garage on occasion. Cash is nice, but nostalgia and history are priceless. Tony

Met a guy in Owosso that knows you. He lives next door to my brother Rick and also has a 40 Buick. He just bought a 73 LeSabre with very low miles. Nice guy, worked at Oldsmobile in Lansing for many years. Of course, he'd be a nice guy with that pedigree. :3gears:

    I've owned my 70 W30 since April of 93.

I've never really thought about selling it, but as they say, "Everything has it's price."

It would just be a very high one since I'd just go buy another.

My relationships with my cars have outlasted any relationships I have had with men.

I've had my Z28 since '83 and my Skylark conv. since '88. The SC has been around for 10 years now, but it doesn't count because it's a Ford! The others I've bought to collect, so they will be around for 20 years plus.

    ...long time...

I have owned my Riviera since 1989, which I purchased with a loan from my grandparents while working at a grocery store (1st job) making 3.85 an hour. I was 15. Now 31, moved from good ol' Omaha, NE, to Philly area, drug it all this way, and still beatin' on it. I've owned many other Buford's in my day, some exceptionally nice. But my 68 I think will always be mine. From high school homecomings, (and other things a young man does in his car in high school :Brow: 0 :Brow: ), college, etc., and my wedding, after all that ...why get rid of it now. RIVITUP

    My Riv

I had the car since 1985. I bought the car without even looking under the hood. What a idiot. I drove it, fell in love and took it home. 1500 bucks, 63000 original miles. I drove and shined it and got thru school, met my wife and had three kids. No honey we cant get married until I get my car painted...NOT, No honey we cant buy a house until I get my car painted....NOT, No honey we cant have kids until I get my car painted....NOT!!! It sits in the garage for 10 years, rotting and rusting away. Every time I walked by my boattail I ducked my head in shame. Friends come over and looked at it, Man what a shame, I remember when... you know the stories. MORE SHAME. Last March my wife says you know we have a little money ahead now dont you think its time to get the RIV fixed up....HOLY COW Its been full speed ahead since.... I am looking at next summer to be on the road again, I'm excited, the wife is excited, the kids are excited.... A guy has to love life when his dream of childhood of building a real Hot car comes true.

Ditto for me and my LeSabre! Bought it in '84 for $1,280, the first car I ever owned. Sure I'd sell it, but who's crazy enough to offer me enough money???

    Beuhler......Beuhler......?

Ive had my 69 Judge going on 20 years now, boy time flies, bought it just out of high school, could never sell, to many memories, funny thing though , my mom who I thought could care less about it tells me if anything ever happened to me she would keep it just because she new how much it means to me, kinda cool i thought. On the other hand for the right price my 69 firebird racecar and the 68 Gto that im in the middle of a frame off would sell, really want that 70 GTo. ::

Bought my '64 Riviera in '64. After over forty years & 300,000 I miles still enjoy the hell out of driving & occasionally racing it ( more this year than ever). I have been offered way more than it's worth, but it's not the $$$$. Some say I could build another, but it would not be MY CAR!!!! Every time I get in the seat it brings me back to when I was 18. Nothing can replace the pride of ownership, nostalgia, etc. etc. etc. that comes from owning a car for so long. Some have asked when I restored it. It started back in '64 the day I drove it out from the dealers. Since then it has been a labor of love & improvements (to me anyway). I guess I could write a book, but that's not me. Lazy?? Well, maybe. Tom Telesco

I bought my 69 Riviera GS February 8,1984 for 800.00. It was my first car. It was another year and a half before I could get my license. I would hitch a ride after my parents left for work and take it to school. My afternoon classes overlooked the parking lot. I spent alot of time looking out the window at the gleaming Lime Green Riv sitting in the lot. Took that car on my first date. There were times when I didnt have a penny to my name, but I never thought of selling it. After almost 21 years the Riv has'nt changed much . Shes still wearing the same paint and still looks just as nice as my high school days. Its kind of like a time capsule. I get in it and I fell like Im in my 20s again.

My Apollo is the first car that I ever owned. Bought when I was 15 and a half. The longest I've ever owned a car other than it was my '93 Sonoma...for 6 years. In the last 2 years since I got rid of the Sonoma I've had 4 vehicles and would sell my current car any day for the right price. And yes, the Apollo is still in the garage...it's not going anywhere, no matter how much I cuss at it when working on it!!!

The only car I ever sold was my first,a 73 cuda named brown betty.I didn't want to see her go but it was for her own good.Since then I have had trouble with parting with things.I have a real problem.I have more cars than I could ever get to in my life time, I know this and I still can't cut any of them loose.I know "you can't take them with you" but what would I do without them? :Do No:

I have owned my car since I was 15. I always wanted a Judge but this one popped up. In retrospect, I should not have ended up with the car, but I know it's my due dilligence that found the documentation of its pedigree - would someone else have found that?

I told myself I'd never sell it. I got a great offer a few months ago but we could not agree on terms so it stays with me.

There are plenty of other cars I'd like to own. There's cars that would facilitate me learning more about mechanics. But, for now, I'm stuck with this one. I know I'll never be able to replace it with another one down the road.

    Amen Tony!

The ones I regret selling the most are the ones that I ran the hardest. The primer gray 55 Chevy sedan with the 427 and the rock crusher, ala American Graffiti.

Using that Hurst Competition Plus shifter on the Muncie at 7200 rpm behind the solid lifter 427 was big stuff for a 20yr old kid.

And then there are the cars I should have bought....cars that belonged to friends and street racing buddies...those are the one's that really haunt me...

    Oh were are they now?

At least I still have the memories.
