I have noticed, and also noticed that ‘in town’ stations have much less of a jump than the podunk ones. Uasually the podunks are within a dime of the in town ones for regular but will be a lot higher on midgrade and premium-I just figured it was gouging versus more gouging. (Regular around here shot up 20 cents in a weekend to 3.39. I haven’t bought any hitest since last week…)

Yep, seems "they" are making it a premium cost. Hope this crap ends soon....

I suspect it is because they know those buying premium for their Hellcats, Demons, tuned Camaros and GT500s are stuck.

Back before COVID when gas was closer to $2.00/gallon, each grade jump was only about 10cents. Then it went to 30cents and 60cents. I don't own any cars that require premium so I've been less concerned since I parted with my Lexus.

I used to run the premium fuel in all my small equipment, but now the ethanol free that is .40 cents per gallon more. It's worth it to help my mowers and such run better and I don't have to treat my fuel for the winter months to last till spring.

I do recall a period of time where it was only a dime or so difference as well.

Yeah, its not just the Hellcats and such, my Q50 requires premium fuel as well. A lot of newer vehicles have higher compression engines.

With direct injection, you can run crazy compression on regular, since fuel is introduced at the moment of combustion, and no sooner. Just like a diesel.

It's been almost a dollar more for 91 vs 87 here for years, I'd guess around 2015 or so. I could stomach paying 50 cents more for 94 back in the day, but 91 barely counts as premium. This has changed the hobby some for me..

I buy diesel 3+( 110$ or more each time) times a week. When I fill up the Riv's or wildcat with 93 its not that much different.. I dont own a car that runs on 87.

I pay whatever they want, I don’t even bother to look, and I don’t bitch about it either. It’s like food, it costs what it costs and if I pay attention to it I just get angry, and I don’t want to be angry!

Yep, see it here in WNY too … +.80 to 1.00 for 93 vs 87
My first job was pumping gas, .329 for regular and .349 for premium … remember? And we checked the oil and cleaned the windshield too. LOL

I haven't seen 94 yet here in Syracuse yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. If Albany and Buffalo have it, we should too.

    Wait...

They ask you to put in your odometer reading at the pump?

    That's just not right.
