Well Steve, that confirms the opinion I've always had that Mark Williams is ridiculously overpriced. I got my aluminum shaft from Lukovich Racing in Michigan ten years ago and probably have 500 passes on it without so much as a cracked u-joint cap. I could have gotten a carbon fiber shaft from him at the time, but he told me unless I was going to race in Pro Stock, there's no point. o No:
A 3" steel drive shaft that is 55" long is 19.3 pounds (not sure if that is stock or not) A Mark Williams aluminum 3.5" shaft is 12.14 pounds. A 4" aluminum shaft is 13.14 pounds. I might have a shaft behind the house I will check its weight.
Is a 4" shaft clear the tunnel on a 72 auto in stock configuration? Well almost as I running a 12 bolts. stret /strip with 500 HP + slick and 4.11 that one should do the trick? http://www.markwilliams.com/detail.aspx?ID=1373
