Do you have a diagram of which two wires? What did you do with the original wire that went to the back of the alt?
    Does it affect anything else?

The original that was there run's down to the starter where the battery wire goes. So it's hooked up to the battery there. I just ran a "To Be Sure" heavy wire from the back of the Alt to the + on the battery. There are Two wires coming from the + post on back of the Alt. now, One to the Starter and One back to the battery. That's all I have hooked to the Alt.

So you dont need any wires to the regulator plug on the alt or to the old external regulator?

If you eliminate the factory regulator and dont hook up the two wire plug on the top of an internal regulated one, how does it regulate?

CW; That's why it's called an internally regulated alternator. It has a smaller regulator inside.

I understand that but why do they have the two wires on the top if they are not needed?

you still have to supply one of those with 12V through the alt. idiot light.

There are some 1 wire alts that have that all built in though. Literally just hook up the output and take off.

It also relocates it more center... leaves pleanty of room for the Pop-Up 50's on either side of the engine:pp

or in my case... the eventual turbo stuff:Brow:

They are there if you want to keep it externally regulated. I talked all of this over with a Powermaster guy. I kept asking him the same thing. He said you're not listening to me. So I asked him if he was related to my wife. She keeps telling me the same thing. So I just hooked up the One wire that goes to the starter. He also told me to run another to the battery and just leave the rubber plug in. I was skeptical, but did what he said and haven't had any problems in Three years.

Oh you guys.....the 1 wire internal regulator has been around for years. It's used mainly in the industrial & marine fields, but is a drop-in for automotive applications also.it's internal self-sensing chip is the same size as the stocker so there was no reason to redesign the regulator housing. The terminals can be used on a stock application to power the idiot light & gives a quicker low rpm turn-on in high amp applications.Just make sure,if you want a 1 wire,it has the correct reg,a stock one will not operate off just the battery connection, you need the other two hooked up,#1 is battery power,#2 is the idiot light..I sell the conversion harness to convert from firewall mounted reg to internal, makes for a clean plug & play hook-up.$15 shipped.

I bought a 100 Amp Powermaster Alt. from Summit (Sorry jamie) internal regulated for my 65.

Yea, Knee replacement surgery Seven Weeks ago. I was taking apart my 300 for a 350 install about Three Weeks ago until my Doc and Physical thera-pissed found. Wadda ya mean I can't pull my engine with a bad knee!! So after being frowned upon, I gotta be a good boy. Doing great really now. No limp (except above the spud sacs), and am back to working on the car. Just sitting and porting mostly. I'll have it going pretty quick. Thank the Drug Co's. for inventing Vicodin!! YEA!!:beers2:
