    CHris,

You are right...I will chill. I am just hopefull that this works thats all. Imagine: This killer block for 1000.00 more than a set of heads.
Th great thing about this board is we get healthy discussions out on the table and they are very informative...apart from that no disrespect intended to any one, particularly T.S.P. who provides us this incredible site.
    Sincerely,

James - what kind of HP/TQ numbers are the pontiac camp making ... relaibly, not on the outer fringe of the blocks' capablility ?

A perfect example of this is when Edelbrock released a set of heads for a Pontiac engine a few years ago, they sold more of those heads in one year than we have (to this day) sold all versions of our aluminum heads ever. Its quite a market that we're up against, and is why Buick stuff is more expensive, the demand is much much lower. But we do what we can :beers2:

Pretty much whatever your heads, turbo, or blower are capable of. Block failures are not something we really think about anymore. A couple of recent pump gas motors made 889hp and 939hp respectively. John Langer and Scott Rex are in the 1100hp - 1200hp range N/A. The Butlers made over 2800hp with twin turbos without issue. There are quite a few 6, 7, and 8 second cars running around with IA2 blocks in them.

If TA decides to use the same foundry and machine service that AllPontiac uses, I imagine you guys should have blocks capable of the same performance at close to the same price as we pay. It's all speculation at this point though. I don't know what TA plans on doing.

I would absolutely buy one if the block was pre-machined at that price. And I'd put my money where my mouth is. I would not buy one if it were a bare unmachined block at that price.

Well, I thought I had put in my 2 cents on this but can't find any post. It is a noble idea. But as Mike pointed out, there is just not may out there that want Buick stuff. I know us on the board would like to think other wise, but it's just not true. My interest in Buicks is much different than most on here. I'm a racer. I don't want a 70 Stage 1 to cruise around and impress my friends on Sat. night. I want to run fast on Sunday and not break parts. I make my Buick engines live with mostly stock stuff, but I can't run as fast as I would like. I run a class where I'm the ONLY Buick in a field of mostly MOPARS (why is that? INDY CYLINDER HEAD) and a few Fords, Chevys and a couple of Pontiacs. I am very interested in a better block, but I want aluminum for weight savings and the ability to repair them.

I think that if a 3200-3500 new better block comes along I think more people would build a buick cause its still different, you would be starting with a better foundation,You would not have to spend alot of $$$$$ on a bandaided hand grenade and who know's what may follow after!! heads?cranks? ect....just lookin at the futrue :)

If TA can make this happen for the Buick community I couldnt imagine why they would not go the extra mile and make this happen. I for one would send them my deposit without hesitation if they decide to get involved. Seems like things may be headed in the right direction.

this is one interesting thread . new pontiac guy stops buy and sticks his neck out , gets totally speared for mentioning bulldog etc , then keeps right on trying to contribute , slowly we come around little by little , ideas pop , TA gets mentioned and lends a little credibility to it all . very nice . a nice/new/improved street strip block would be a great motivator i think . remember , vendors won't be selling JUST blocks , then they'll be selling heads , intakes , pistons etc etc . maybe a quick note on this in the "street" ( was just there , no mention of this for someone looking for a 455 block ) and "big boy" sections would be good too . a 1000hp riv or 'sabre would be interesting . thats it - just stopped by . and thanks to james/sdtempest also . nice to "see" ya . del

I think a good measure for the potential market is the total number of girdled motors out there. I have one, my brother inlaw has one, my bud Greg has one with his blower and Emerson has one with his blower motor. Wayne has two girdled motors for the hawk. Just a couple here in town I hang out with.

Two guys I know of in town but don't hang out with.

Lets get a count of girdled motors, TA or Poston. >600hp.

    5 -TA, 3 - Poston

8 total, at or over 600 ponies in the Houston area.

This may be the beginning of Buick parts costing equivalently to Chevy parts. I wouldn't let this opportunity slip away.
