Greg. Ca you tell us more about those heads?
What do they fit? Are they the Buick/rover pattern?
Were they finished heads with the valves, springs, and seats?

There are many ways to make a head that would "work" but there was an alum prototype Buick 350 head that was made but it was not any better than the stock heads so was dropped...

Ta will make us heads but it will be 4-5 years in my opinion.... Untill then its boost or bust...

They're in the Real Steel Catalog for the Rover V8 so they fit the Buick.

They come finished. Valves are not as big as Wildcat Stage II's though.

what lift #'s? intake or exhaust?

one problem I perceive with those heads is the combustion chamber is TOO small to put larger valves in.. restricts the 350 guys more than just the cam change

520 lift, didn't specify in or exhaust.

    Everyone please just either:

    1. have a set of stock 350 heads ported
    2. Port a set of stock 350 heads yourself
    3. run stock heads and be happy

You could wait for alum heads but why not just get out there and make some power with your all iron 350 NOW!

If I can port a set of heads to make 398 hp/425 ft tq at 8.3:1 comp then there are no reasons to wait for $3000 alum heads especially if you hp goals are under 450 hp NA!!!

Blower, nitrous or turbos and these engines are capably of 600-800 hp with a mild cam, head porting and better rods.

i'm starting to collect some info / magazines and pretty soon i'm going to issue a challenge to you SBB guys. 500+hp normally aspirated, no NOS, gasoline should be the bare minimum you are shooting for. anything less is a flat out embarassment.

470 out of those heads seems REALLY fishy sounds like the test wasn't performed to the "28 in. water" standard

do fully ported stage 2 v-6 heads even flow that much?

I'm looking at a TA Performance catalog right now, it says their 455 Stage2 Track Eliminator heads flow 378 CFM at .650 lift on the intake WITH OVER-SIZED INTAKE VALVES AND FULL (hand) PORTING.

In fact, the TA catalog says their Stage4 tall port heads flow 395 CFM MAX with 2.300 intake valve, full porting, and chamber work.

THERE IS NO WAY THOSE ROVER HEADS ARE FLOWING 470 CFM USING THE STANDARD MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES.

I'd love to have a magazine to a full article on the 350, bring it on! I'm not sure why you are doubting what we are doing here but we will be putting all the proof on the track in 08 so stay tuned.....

If People are running in the "NHRA" classes with NO head porting and making about 380 hp at the crank then why would it be surprising to see 500 hp?

There are people like Troy and Mike Williamson running in the 12s NA without any fancy parts, and even a bone stock 350 can run 12s with a little boost or funny gas.

some 10-1 with a replicated build of seans engine and it should be at 5oohp

with a bigger cam and more compression...for say e85 i bet youll be around 580hp

    just wondering here...
can you run an alki kit with e85 gas?
does methenol and ethenol work well together, or will they counteract

No doubt aluminum heads have a benefit , weight . But I like my iron heads real well . My 350 with iron heads , Poston intake and Q-jet has run 11.92 . I have spent MANY hours and gallons of gas tuning on that combo to get that E T , but It was well worth all the time spent .

And to add that was at 3900 pounds using exhaust manifolds, full exhaust and a 118 cam.

you have totally misapprehended my point. you should be embarassed to get less than 500hp. 600hp is the low end of what you should be shooting for.
