Dan, this might sound stupid but any reason one of your rides you are giving 1/8 mile figures, and the other 1/4? I'm guessing just different tracks you have run them at, but I would be really interested in knowing how the numbers compare for the same track length, and the difference in their parts. I'm especially curious about the stock one in the 1/4.

Not a stupid question. I bracket on the 1/8. 8.90-8.60's depending on air.
I have never run the bracket car on the 1/4.

Ah, that makes sense. So what are the 1/8 numbers on the stocker K/SA?

I looked at the headers. The #3 has to be rerouted not #5. #3 goes up over the stearing box, and #5 just gets flattened on the box side to clear.

The best 1/8 if I remember is 7.27 with 1.47 60 ft with out the ballist weight.

It was great when I made that run I out 60 footed my friend. He has a 455 olds that runs 6.90"s. He had a 1.48 and he came to me and said he could not believe it.

I have searched the following on my own:
    ta 290-94
    ta 212
    8.5 to 1
    ta 310
    Still need a little info...........

Although the ta 212 cam was recommended to me for my low compression engine, would the ta290-94h be too much of a cam?

I have decided that I am going to get head porting done and I think I want to use the head gasket (not sure of the exact name) that boosts the compression a bit. I can also get the heads shaved too if this would help the cam. I didn't want to upgrade the pistons right now which is why I am asking will this cam work with my compression, I am going to use a torque converter not sure what size but that will be determined after I figure out if this cam will work or not. And I am going to upgrade to like a 3.23 gear or so. Can anyone using this either cam describe the idle characteristics and street manners. This car is going to be used mainly as weekend cruiser and racer, with the occasional drive to work. Thanks for the help so far, everyone has been great!:TU:

The 290 cam looks good to me. I used the 268 compcams cam at one time but I didn't have a convertor at the time. I would use about a 2500 convertor with that. But I would get the heads done and you could get it shaved a little if you like, probably wouldn't hurt. Just getting the heads done will wake it up a whole bunch. Put some headers on it and a x pipe with Flomasters and you will rock.

Anyone have any sound clips or video of this cam? Or can someone explain the idle sound of this cam?
