Seller doesn't know what kind of car he has! Called it a GranD Sport. Jeesh.

That's not the guy who supposedly owned it when the show aired

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Hilariously it's not the seller that spelled it wrong, it's the fantomworks people. Come to think of it they spelled Phantom wrong also.

Does anyone on Marketplace own a vacuum? Never look at a wet car! Is he sanding drywall over the dash pad?

To be totally honest I believe if Ford never renamed the Torino to Gran Torino. Spell check would allways put a D on the end of Gran.. After all what is a gran?

I went to look at it on Sunday. The person selling it is the owners son in law. In his defense he’s not a car guy. I did make an offer and waiting on his response. Car has issues vacuum leak under dash A/C blows on feet only, body panel misalignment driver side hood and fender, drivers door hinges worn, wiring is a rats nest under dash power windows work with ignition key off, wrong front bumper (71) some trim pieces missing, interior needs a lot of work as well. There ls also a couple bubbles in the paint in one of the quarter panels and a paint chip by the rear bumper the car was in storage and they scraped the drivers rear quarter pulling it out. With that said the car is way overpriced in my opinion.

72gs4spd, Good luck getting the car, while it has some issues it's still a cool '72 and appears to have lots of potential.

Just like most old cars, it's not surprising to read that there are many issues (the same can be said for most of my cars too) but having no brake or clutch pedal pads is crazy. Anyone here ever driven a car with no brake or clutch pedal pads while wearing wet boots? I thought maybe they were removed after leaving FantomWorks but looking at the photos on their website shows that it left their shop without them. So FantomWorks converted the car to a manual transmission, which included installing the clutch and brake pedals and they didn't install the rubber pads? Makes you wonder what other corners they cut that aren't so obvious.

My hope is that the car was tossed together to create content for the show. Something like that should have never left a quality restoration shop.

Is the attraction for this car the 4 speed? The red? Or the "Fantomworks" hackery?

I’m looking to replace my gone too soon 72 GS that was also red with black. Personally as far as Fantomworks is concerned their work leaves a bit to be desired in my book and adds no value to this car.

From watching the show it doesn't look like they do all out restorations. They seem to try to work within a person's budget and only address the issues at hand. So if the owner doesn't want the car rewired or a new harness installed it doesn't happen. Also sourcing out parts takes time and money so probably some people tell the guy they will do it themselves. I've spent years gathering parts.

I'm hopeful the potato farmer continues to supply Adam with Buicks and it becomes a YouTube to Motor Trend sensation. :D:D

How much $$$ did Phantom Works charge the guy to "restore" this GS?
