And apparently they didn’t do a lot of other things that should have been done for that amount of money!

I've watched that episode a half dozen times. Dan Short is supposed to be super nit-picky about fender alignments etc. Owner only wanted a 4-speed with cruise control put in the car that Dan found online (they didn't do a full restoration). They said 4-speeds never came with cruise control. I always liked that show (no silly scripts and theatrics) but Dan treated his employees like crap so you rarely saw the same guy working in the shop for more than 1 episode.

    From the Fantom Works website:
“We strongly encourage you to research any automotive shop’s quality, reputation, and integrity before you make any sort of investment. After thorough research, we are confident you will discover FantomWorks is your only choice because, in reality, we don’t have any local competition and only a handful of competitors in the United States.”

Just watched the episode. The guy Bill’s budget was 60-80k and the cost landed in the middle somewhere. So 70k +/-

I'm pretty sure this is the episode where they didn't finish the car in time for it to air so they used another car for the burn-outs at the end. The 2 DR HT suddenly became a post coupe.

I've watched quite a few phantom works episodes and In my opinion they are grossly overpriced.

I have screen shot the invoices when he goes over the finale bill with the owner to try to make heads or tails of the invoice amount. Labor/ parts etc. . Like trying to understand the difference in pounds/quids vs US dollars on wheeler dealers. Their prices are all over the place

I never kept them long. But if u watch as the owner looks over the bill u can make out a lot of his labor and material charges on the cover sheet. Fantom works was never one of my favorite shows. To much drama.

For whatever reason I don’t hate the show. Much of it is theatrics but then there are the cars … while Dan and his crew charge an absorbent amount for work….can’t by that bad dude has his own show. Didn’t likely happen from being a failed craftsman .
I agree with most of the personal jabs, annoying as all get out … but at the end of the day I’d trade jobs with him.

You can say what you want, but there's obviously a market for his services just like Dan Short. And they both seem to be doing well. Dan wears a $15k watch on the show. Same for Lucky Costa on Hot Rod garage.
