I’m going to run 15 inch rally’s and newer tires. A set of the wide oval would cost as much as I paid for the car. Lol

Replaced steering box and rag joint today. Also upgraded to disc on the front. Replacing the fuel pump and harmonic balancer tomorrow and waiting on brake hoses and Pressure hose for the power steering. Hopefully drive it by the weekend

Got everything reassembled today. Fixed several oil leaks. Replaced fuel pump gasket. Previous owner didn’t get the gasket lined up Leaking bad. Oil pressure sending unit was plugged with a bolt. Put a sending unit back in it. Hopefully road test tomorrow. Timing was advanced probably 10 degrees. Coming along good. Will post more pictures shortly

This is how the previous owner installed the fuel pump. Major oil leak IMG_1864.jpeg

Got things buttoned up some over the weekend
90% of the oil leaks fixed
    Headliner semi repaired
    Carb- timing - points adjustment
    Fan shroud reinstalled
    Grill zip tied back together
    Bolts tightened on exhaust manifolds
Old used air cleaner foams installed
    Kick down cable adjusted.
It’s old ,sweaty but it’s getting close to being road worthy again. I’ve posted this before but this was the previous owners daily driver for over 50 years. And I’m not kidding. By far the worst running driving car I’ve ever seen that was still on the road.

I like the color combo, silver with grey top, is that original?
    Haven’t seen one like that.

Mine started that way took about 6 years to get everything done, look at my Starts as a Dream to see pics.

That color combo has really grown on me. Had a buddy back in the '80's w/a '70 GS 455 in those colors & it didn't do much for me.

Freshing up the interior a little. New carpet that’s been in storage for 20+ years and a better set of 71 bucket seats. Installed a used posi unit adjusted and bled the rear brakes IMG_1918.jpeg Did a floor alignment also. As soon as the drivers seat is back in it will be time for a test drive

It is now. Originally a bench but I had a set of nice 71 buckets.

You could get 'em that way. Just order a bucket seat interior code & no console. I have one (Skylark) that only had a storage console.

Seen a few orig. cars w/col. shift/no console. The one in @jherb's avatar was - '70 GS 350. Guy's parents who lived around the corner from him when we were kids had a Skylark like that too IIRC (may have had both a storage console & 8-track storage bin).

The 70 burnished saddle stage1 I’m finishing here was originally column shift buckets with no console. We made it a floor shift with long console though.
