Ive looked at this 70 GSX 4-speed. Been for sale for quite some time. At the Classic Car Mall in PA. Way overpriced in my opinion with a "lowered" price of $125k. It's a non stage car despite the decals, but a real GSX. The engine and trans are incorrect. Looks like a fairly nice resto but doubtful a "frame off" as stated, The undercarriage is clean but clearly spray bombed black. Overall a nice car. Opinions on Value? I may be interested at the right price. All nitpicking allowed! Thanks- Ray

Man that's a lotta coin for a not original motor car. Isn't it?
And I'm sure if you were to offer a "correct" amount, they'd tell you to pound it and the car will be for sale forever.

There's a thread on the car on here from earlier this year that'd help you. Tough one to put a value on.

I agree, I don't think it's a frame off. That said its a nice looking GSX and being a Non Stage 4spd it's a low production number. My opinion... and that really means nothing lol. I think it's a 100k car. If you could get it for anything under 100k I don't think you would get hurt later on if you wanted out of it. It would be a fun car to drive and enjoy for sure.

I'am not a car flipper, I buy and keep what I buy.
That said, if you are entertaining a possibility of flipping this car in the future, you would never get your money out of this $125k car.

You know this dealership knows they are NOT going to get $125k for this car.
I admit, it does look good I a like 4-speed cars. 1 would offer them $75k. If they say no, just walk away.
I would love to have a GSX, but it's got to be numbers matching.
This car is the elite of the Buick muscle cars, it just has to be correct in all phases. VET

Never say Never. I have been into these cars a long time and I have seen private sales go really high. These rare cars are getting more and more attention with the cost of other A-Body cars in the stratosphere it would not surprise me that in the next few years prices continue to go up. They never seem to go down thats for sure.

I have to agree with you, prices never come down.
However, this GSX is way over priced. If everything was correct, it would be worth the asking price. VET

Ryan - can you post a pic of your cowl tag so we can compare the one on this car for sale? It looks like it may be a reproduction. The Q-Q is too far over to the left and the numbers/letters look too crisp/tall, not to mention the body number is funny looking. Also, the rivets do not look original/hollow.

In case Ryan does not see James' request, I have posted a pic of my cowl tag.

Wow good stuff to know. Guys on the supercar registry site call out the fakes all the time and hopefully continue to do so while they're here and able.

The rivets are repros that haven’t been “popped” on. They will snap in the original holes. But the center needs to be at least punched down a bit to really secure them. If you really want to be correct, stick some duct seal on the holes.

To me, it appears that it might have been split apart (body off frame) but the undercoating on the body makes it look sloppy. And it’s definitely an older resto.

The tag could've been lost or... So the question now becomes is it even a real GSX VIN? Is it a re-body? Need a Wayne Roberts Report on it to start.

Say it is a real GSX VIN & not a re-body (i.e. the tag just got lost), what's the hit in value for the tag not being orig?

Hey Dano, this is a pic of my 1970 GS, cowl tag, it looks pretty crisp, and the tag is located to the far right too.

The Restoration was done by a forum member, so I know it's not a Repo or fake. This is a Texas car, the only rust was found in the trunk floor because the trunk weather stripping was worn-out.
I do see that the Q-Q does look to be too far to the left and the rivets don't look like mine. VET

Correction, to the far LEFT, location of the cowl tag. VET

I like the wording regarding the carburetor:

" On top is a single 4-barrel carb which is correct for the stamping code for the car, but would have been installed at the factory on a 1970 automatic GSX."

The unsuspecting buyer might think that GSX had its own specific carburetor

Dealers love to wordify their ads. Most of them are cringe-worthy at best.

What does the correct 70 dipstick look like? Does it have sleeve/tube with a hold down or go straight into the block without a sleeve?

i'm also wondering about the steering shaft, wonder if it's big block or not?
