Especially if you already have a lot of parts to put it back together. Green hard tops are pretty sharp when fresh.

VIN on this car is only 56 units lower than my Burgundy 4-speed car. Body number looks to be 24 digits lower, (but pretty hard to read). Built same day it appears, Saturday November 1st, 1969. The only day in the first week of November 1969. (Did the assembly line at Flint run on Sundays?). Shame the car has a Holley carb, as finding an original Stage 1 carb is getting difficult.

My Stage 1 4-sp is a 10E body. Will have to see where it falls in relation.

IMG_3712.jpeg My favorite color! Love to see that one brought back to life!! … cost 80k to restore my 48/48 (3 years ago) similar condition but a 4-speed, so probably 100k today. It’d still be close to what a finished one is worth today (if you don’t count your time).

    SOMEBODY GO GET THAT ONE!!!

Hard to swallow this is a LA car from day one to 2004 and then a heated garage since. I doubt the fender dog leg rust would be there and there is a lot of other obvious rust. No trunk picture certainly leaves a lot to the imagination.

To me this is a nicely equipped ‘70 GS.
    Stage 1
    TH400 (my preference)
3.64 posi since it has no A/C
Fantastic color combination (dark green w/black interior)
    Rally gauges with tach
    Bucket seats & console
PS & PB (discs would still be a nice upgrade)
    Rallye suspension
Super Sport Wheels with G70 raised white litter tires (this car was built 1 week before the 15” wheels and G60 tires became available)
    +a few other options

I already have enough projects to last a lifetime and far less than 1/2 of a lifetime left to live, but this is an attractive project car. I hope someone is willing to step up and tackle the project. This one is worth saving. I’m attaching the photos here because the ad will soon be gone.

    I agree.

In my opinion the past locations and reported backstory are meaningless on a car like this. All that matters now is the current condition. Just from these limited photos it’s obvious that there are some rust issues to address. At a minimum it needs a trunk lid and has rust in the fenders and 1/4s. Seeing that tells me there will also be rust in the trunk, floors, and various other places. Anyone that thinks it’s rock solid is a dreamer. This is a true project car that will require a substantial investment of resources. But man, oh man, what a sweet car it could be. With the exception of upgrading to disc brakes, I wouldn’t feel compelled to change anything about it from the way it was built in November 1969. I think it’s priced very fairly considering it’s the baddest Buick muscle car ever made (‘70 Stage 1, TH400, non-A/C) and still has the original engine block.

Gary. The F-4/F-7 options weren't available until the second week of November, 1969? I've seen 15x7" chrome wheels dated as early as Sept. 24. Seems odd they would take six weeks to begin offering them. WG01_Crop.jpg

I think there's a Services Bulletin announcing the availability. Did the wheelwell trim chance happen at the same time? Could be that Kelsey was ready before GM sales/marketing? Or that Goodyear couldn't supply enough?

Might be able verify by checking the Stage 1 Registry. They were pretty good about not issuing bulletins until sufficient parts were in inventory, but stranger things have happened.

On the 70 cars with with the f9 option (G70x 14 tires) and v2 (chrome wheels) or v7 super sports wheels w trim rings what brand of tire was used ,Firestone white letter or Goodyear? I have seen Firestone on 71/72s in a pic somewhere

Based on the chart in the assy. manual it could've been any of 4 manuf. (IIRC Goodyear, Firestone, Goodrich, Uniroyal) & doesn't specify based on assy. plant. I'm planning on Firestone because they make the radial that looks like a bias.

If any were built before this date, and that’s certainly possible, I’d bet they were from the home plant of Flint.

Interesting. Bulletin actually states the options had been "restricted", but not previously unavailable? Very possibly a Flint only option before 3 November. The Stage 1 registry has several early (pre 11B) cars listed as having the F7 option, one of which being Brad C's GSX show car, but we all know that one is something of a special case. The earliest cars listed in the registry (other than Brad's) with Sloan documents to support the F7 option are a Fire Red and a Sherwood Green car each with a 10D build date, and a Sherwood Green car with a build date of 11A. There is also a Fire red 10E build car with original invoice to document the F7 option. Looks like some cars, but likely very few, were indeed built with F4/F7 before issuance of the bulletin.

The earliest F4 optioned car listed in the registry is a 10D build.

My Buick Motor Division, 1970 Factory Installed Options documents (Printed 9/11/1969 - Effective 9/18/1969) don't show availability of F4/F7. So the options clearly became available between September 18 and the fourth week of October 1969, but few were installed. Anyone seen a 15x7" chrome wheel dated earlier than the one pictured in #14 above?
