Seriously.. If you are not willing to spend at least $10,000 :eek2: on the motor you will never achieve 500+ hp.. :Smarty: You need solid lifter cam, roller rockers, ported heads, performer intake, holley 1000hp carb and headers. And then all the horsepower in the world is worthless unless you can convert it to forward momentum. So a matched cam, converter and rear gear are the trick. :TU: Call Geoff at finishline motorsports and tell him what you want. The vid in my sig is what 10g's gets you. :3gears:
i think you got jipped a solid cam and alum heads will get you more than 500hp i get that from my hydraulic cam motor
But how much more does it cost to get it to the ground? It's not just motor cost. Like I said all the horsepower in the world is worthless if you can't convert it to forward momentum. ou: LOL!!! I got jipped? I'm the one in the 11's. :bla:
Depending where you are in Michigan, N - E - W - S? I could suggest where I went, the prices and customer service was the best I have ever dealt with. Here is there web http://www.allspeedperformance.com/ ask for Steve Morris, he is the engine builder. Tell him Joe with the Green Buick sent you. They have a chassis dyno as well, they are an awsome group of guys to work with. And if you wanted huge power, they are experts in blow-through.
Andy, Dave is using solid lifters on a hydraulic cam. That's a trick the N.E. Mafia has been using for awhile. Was even thinking of trying it on my 118.
solid lifter/hydraulic cam whats the purpose of that? i am running rhoads style from kenne bell on my cam which is been ok for me no adjusting of rockers i run a q-jet on my engine and has been good, 11s is only a carb change for me
You get the full lift of the cam right off idle. The hydraulic lifters tend to absorb some of the lift until they pump all the way up. There is a noticeable change in throttle response, revs quicker. I'm sure it's good for something.
