The car show... Dang, it was a BLAST!!! Truth be told, as we were preparing for this 170 mile trip, one way, to Auburndale, Fl I was thinking...... Why am I traveling this far for a car show? The second I got there I knew why. It was a BLAST!!! It's a Florida small town with an "up north" look. Auburndale has a big mall, grassy park with a big playground, right in the center of town. We luckily were late and got to all park in the back of the park by the railroad track. BEST spot in the house!!! Giant Oak trees gave us shade all day long. The weather was beautiful, and the people were friendly. We parked our cars and were just astounded by the beautiful Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, and Cadillacs parking by us. There were actually a BUNCH of Buicks that we did not know, but would during the course of the day.
Our “gang.” Jim and Retha with their beautiful GSX. The best of the best!!! Yes their GSX is beautiful, but I’m talking about Jim and Retha! Rich showed up with his beautiful 1969 GS400. It’s beautiful too, but Rich is / was a blast! Great to meet you Rich!!! Steve I’ve known for years. Rich was very excited to see Steve’s Riviera. I understand why. I love it too! Phil be quick. We finally met up with you at the end of the show, but I do have a picture of your car also that I will be posting. Awesome! Oh ya, my grand kids... Did I tell you all they are the best!!! Lots of people told me that. Yes, I know! Proud Grandpa!!!!!!
Oh yah, Lucas, this Bud's for you! I'm driving behind Rich's 69 GS and I noticed he's a Florida resident that has a Montana license plate. He bought his car during the middle of the D.A. pandemic and the only place open to the dealer was Montana. Yay!!! Lucas, why do your license plates look like Idaho?
This guy. I don’t remember his name off the top of my head, but he might come to the Buick get together at my house in March. Yes, his car needs restoring, but it is a Arizona car, (no rust), and kind of a barn find. It is a one hundred percent numbers matching engine transmission and rear end stage one GS. He was very fun to talk to and a very cool guy. He also has a 1972GS 455 convertible that he said he would probably drive down to West Palm Beach because it has overdrive and is much more highway friendly.
The red GS. I don’t remember his name, and he is not a member of the V-8 forum, but he does know West Coast people like wheels, and George giant last name that starts with N. Sorry George. He does belong to the GSCA and he did belong to the Skylark club of South West Florida. He was a cool dude. I did not meet the people next-door with the maroon 64 or 5GS Oh ya, My oldest, Alex in in the background. Check out his shirt. My youngest, Scott, had shirts made for us. They say "Carroll Car Club." They also have a GS, and GN logo on the sleeve. Thanks Scott!!!
This guy and his wife were flat out a hoot! He is not a V-8 forum member, nor a GSCA member, but in the last picture you can see the car was raced in New York City. I’ll bet somebody knows this car! I think if you can read the poster he sold the car at one time and then spent forever trying to buy it back. He was a very cool guy!
Great answer not to have the cop / burnout photos.. yeah that probably wouldn’t of been a good idea I’m glad you guys had fun wish I could’ve been there !
Check out the paint on the roof of this Cadillac. The guy was a painter. He said it had 32 coats on the roof to get it that deep looking.
The second and third picture are of a real nice 69 Skylark with manual transmission. We’re thinking maybe it was a five or six speed transmission because the shifter knob was further back and the bench seat was in the way. The guy customized the bench seat in the middle to accommodate the stick shift
Check out this 1963 Oldsmobile Jetfire. There were 2 of them. According to an article I read these were the first turbo charged cars mass produced by General Motors.
Oh ya, check it out. Our own Steve, AKA Briz, won the Best in Show award for Buick’s!!! AWESOME!!! In the last two pictures Steve has my most awesome grandson riding shotgun with Steve’s trophy in hand.
