if you're looking for the one year only ultra rare nailhead Qjet intake manifold in carburetor there is one on eBay right now
17066559 carb is for 1980-85 Chev/GMC truck according to http://www.carburetion.com/CarbNumber.asp?Number=17066559
I just missed a manifold on Ebay a couple days ago - it sold for 179.00 or something like that. I couldnt justify that, as I didnt really need it.
One of our board memebers picked it up. I won't share who it was, but it wasn't me. He seems to be buying up everything '66 Skylark/Nailhead related in site.
Rhett that auction wasn't just for a intake. A carb came with it too. It was not pictured. Now all I need is the air breather to top it off. Anyone have one?
I saw that, and congratulations! I made up a air cleaner using a moroso drop base and a AFB pancake body....welded it together, but never did finish it as I found a real chrome one.... It wasnt hard though, and the AFB air cleaners are pretty common. Was the Q-Jet an original 7046240 or a service replacement 7041304/309?
He didn't know which carb went with the intake. It had been in his attic for 25 years according to him. He had already packaged up the parts and sent them when I asked about the carb. I was wanting the intake mostly and had forgot myself it came with a carb. When it arrives I will see which one it is. I have already talked to the guy again and if he sent the wrong one then we will swap or I'll just buy both. ---------- Post added at 05:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:47 PM ---------- Now Now Johnny dont be hating. You know I share info on cars and parts. I was just throwing out the need for a breather incase someone had one extra. I wasnt trying to take a intake from anyone. Might be time to add onto the shop. Wife sure isn't going to let me trash up the yard with a bunch of cars. The next car on the list is a vert. Still waiting on the 67 pics or a location for the one by you.
Assuming that you are referring to the air filter housing, I do have one. It came off of a '66 Electra non-AC engine. It has surface rust, but at a quick look seems to be undamaged and readily restorable. I have a bit too much going on to take a photo right now, but could probably post one or two later today or tonight. I'm not desperately trying to sell it, but in honesty, I'll probably never use it.
I just picked up a '66 QJ intake. Carb came with it. Also the Aluminum Valve Covers and various brackets. All for $100.00. That makes Three Intakes. Two are Four days apart. Gobble Gobble.
Hey Guys, I "Got Lucky" for the First time in Ten Years. But the Carb I doubt will ever "Carb" again. Unless I soak it for another Ten Years. But by then I'll be Dead. The Guy saw my engines in my Garage and told me he had a '66/425 engine in his garage. I can have it if I want it. Well yea, I guess I could come and look at it. :Brow: Then he called me about 4 Days later telling me His Son scrapped it out for some cash. He was pissed. Me? I almost cried. He did have these parts tho. Some more as he digs through his stuff. Motor Mounts etc. I still have my own '66/425 on a stand.. The Carb works too. PONCH
Thanks for posting pics John. Unfortunately that is not the pancake style Todd and I need for our GS's. It looks to be in good condition for someone who can use it.
Not a problem. As I said, I'm not desperate to get rid of it, but if there's someone out there who really needs it, I will part with it.
John-I'm not getting a full pic of the cleaner, but the oval snorkle I see looks to be the same as a '67-the '66 'regular' air cleaner snorkle was round. There are a lot of the '66 intake/quadrajet set ups still 'out there' as about 50,000 were made-but are squirreled away-lesser of the flat cleaners ---------- Post added at 09:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 AM ---------- Now I can see it-not a 'big engine' cleaner-maybe 340-350 small car?
I thought that looked a little different. Stil like it though, actually like it more than the big car air cleaners.
