Looks like we had a few of the same problems, I had to slot one hole on the frame bracket like you. I also made a longer trunion for the rod that runs from the Z bar to the clutch fork because the rod was too short. I also destroyed the rubber bushing in the rod quickly. My clutch fork is a repro that looks like someone just sawed the dimpled end off and welded on the big block style. Could be a problem there. Do I understand that changing to the tall t.o. bearing didn't work after all and you went back to the medium? I didn't know there were 2 lengths. Thanks for the help, Scott

On some shifters the arms are a differant length. meaning 1st/2nd lever is shorter than 3rd/4th. the shifter may have been put together wrong.

I dont think anyone brought this up but what type of transmission fluid is in the transmission?

I've read many articles on this subject of muncie transmission issues with new modern fluid in them.

There only a few gear oil available that are recommended for the muncie transmission. I only use was is recommended by GM in the 70's for the muncie and Sta-Lube SL24239 API/GL-4 Multi-Purpose Hypoid Gear Oil I believe is best for these transmissions.

My transmission is the original one in my car and never had a problem.
