Car #4085...the Stg2 GSX did not have the 4-bolt block. As far as the other stg2 parts that were on the car...we are (me?) just now are trying to figure where everything went, we have a very good idea...so far.

    Hi Chris-
Thanks for asking, everything is not so well...my mother's cancer is back and we are dealing with that. as you know, it's really hard when it's your parents.

Do you know what lake that story came from? Just trying to figure something out with that story.
Denny Manner said there were more than two made...maybe up to six.

And yes, some stuf has surfaced. I'm (well maybe someone else who got me thinking about it) just starting to figure out where all the stg2 parts went from #4085.

And I knew for about a year where there is another 4-bolt block and some of the history of it as where it was used.

    Take care,
    Guy

What a Moron I am glad no one was taken by this guy. I was hoping it was the real deal and someone could have snagged it up. I watch the CL ads here in Phoenix and have got a few deals. I appologize for posting something of such nature. Like they say if it's too good to be true it is probably just that!

Why? Because of your post people have a better understanding about those blocks. Would it great to find a complete one? Hell Ya! :beer

    Guy,
Talk has been going around about Denny giving one of the 4-bolt blocks to a guy that raced a boat. That's where the "4-bolt in the lake" got started, but Denny doesn't remember doing any such thing.

Denny spoke to us at BPG this year next to the 4 bolt block on the stand...he said "rumored" one of the 4 bolt blocks did indeed go into a drag race boat and it sunk in a lake in California.....he stated supposed to be still sitting on the bottom.

My son is a big WW2 fighter airplane crazy kid. In watching one of the thousand or so episodes. The showed a Buick engine that was experimental for a Airplane. A small Bomb-mer I think. They went on to say that someone took that motor and put it in a speed boat and it sank in Lake Michigan. There's the Buick at the bottom of the Great Lakes.

Chris L- Don't mean to hi-jack your thread...maybe we should start another?

That's why I asked Chris (buicksstage1) what lake. I heard about the Great Lakes deal. But this is about the California lake rumor.

"Rumored" is the perfect word for this deal.

Duane, Denny doesn't remember giving that block to the drag boat guy because he never did.

    Ok, Here's the real story.
The 4-bolt block that came out of the Kenne-Bell camp was used in one or some of there cars...my source that has the block doesn't sound like he is quite sure. Maybe him and I can find out which car used it...that is my intent anyways. and yes, it could be my car.

But this is the block that was rumored to have been in that drag boat, threw a rod and sunk...he even told me the name of the lake.
It seems maybe Jim Bell had thought that was what happened.

what happened is Jim sold this block to the drag boat guy but before he put it in, the stage1 engine that was currently in it threw a rod...whether or not the boat sank, I don't know, I didn't ask.
So this block was never in the boat and just sat in his shop.
my source bought the block from him, I think he said in the late '70's and has had it ever since.
