John, pics below. Not the best, computer took a dump, lost most. Doug, hoping to do more this summer. Right now I am pulling the motor to put new rear main seals, 12 year old build not holding up to boost too well. Also grenaded the trans on the way to Linden show doing a holeshot for my nephew. :Brow:
Chris Spend the money on the BOP Engineering seal. On the last rebuild the new seal Bobb put in lasted 100 miles. Put in the viton seal and still going strong.
arent those carbs sort of self adjusting? you get set them for a range and it auto adjust via load? use to be an add on call varijet like that I tihnk it was called. could adapt it to any car, snowmobile, motorcycle.
They are a variable venturie carb. I went with it because its different, plus its a plug and play. I love it. the throttle response is amazing!:beers2:
I always wondered about those carbs and if they really worked. Me and carb tuning have never been close friends. wonder why ya don't see more of them? Can they hand boost or a turbo the other way and adjust right? only thing that keeps be out of the boost game, carb/fuel tuning.
thats just a cool set up. would like to see more pics of the setup when you can Doug PS anyone got detailed pics of a procharger set up on a 350???what abouta 455???
James, I am not sure why they didn't really make it other than they are very tall. I know off roaders like them because if you roll over, they don't spill gas. I think I did read you can load boost through the top, but not for sure. it is absolutely easy to adjust. I only set the idle, and gave the fuel adjustment 1/2 turn to make it run a bit richer. that's it. Doug, Doug Gorton "sailbrd" who replied earlier in this post is running a procharger on his 455. I will try to get a few more pictures of mine on here before I pull the motor to put seals in it and change the trans in the next couple of days. Hoping to be ready for Norwalk
are they out of business now? didn't find em on summit, their website just has a few parts, even their ebay store just has a couple of used units. The design looks very straight forward. very blocky, only removed material needed and thats it. Which im sure kept cost down in production.
I don't think they have made them since maybe the 90's? I bought mine on ebay. A guy out of Texas rebuilds carbs, has a video posted with the carb for sale running on an engine. I was VERY impressed with this, and he also stands behind his work. I paid about half for this of what a Holley would be set up for the blower.
I have a powerdyne on a 350 . It is a stock 71 motor with 2:56 gears. Makes about 7 lbs boost. I may be getting 3:08 posi rear this weekend. It is pretty fun right now, should be even better with a little more gear.
I will get some new pics. The rear I am getting is priced right. Here is a link to my post on it. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?289814-First-ride-making-boost!
Finally new seals, Had to turn crank and put new bearings in. Engine was purple o long time ago, been red for a while, figured lets try some Canary yellow! Should look pretty good in the car! Some pics have yellow valve covers, changed to the silver. Next, 8.5 mm MSD Red wires! Should be pretty loud!
I recognize that garage! Glad it is coming together Chris. There is a nice car show in Linden on Friday nights. Get it put together and bring it up. We can have the boosted Buick section.
Doug, where in Linden is the show? I have that F--d wagon I want to take around to try and sell before I play too much in the Canary. I was able to drive it to our church show this past weekend though!:3gears:
