After cruising around the dead hotel parking lots last year, I say we all plan on taking some "NO DOZ" supplements and get ready to party! We need to represent for the Buick crowd! Salem needs to know we are there!

I know, I know, not for the faint of heart, but don't be scard. I am not talking acting super crazy, but dang, lets put a little life in the lots. I hope I will not be alone in this quest! If you need to sleep, we can prop you up in a chair and put some sunglasses on you...

    Who's with me!?!?!?
:Brow: :Brow: :beer :eek2: :TU:

What lot were YOU in last year?:Brow::grin:

I'll be one of the first to admit that I'm not usually acclamated to staying up late...and am guilty of turning in early a couple of the nights myself.

I did catch one of the offenders in action though...

Adam, I drove through ALL of them. I was dissappointed. I stayed at the Holiday Inn, and it was dead. Cruised the lots down the way...a few people standing around...nothing more. BUT thats OK, I just want to have a little fun. I know a Massorifice burned a little rubber, BUT dang, one or two guys???? Come on... :3gears:

I just want to get a few things more going, thats all. I don't have a "show car" , and I really don't drag race too well. I am not a Buick guru, with 25 years knowledge, and I don't have a bedtime! :error:

    Derek,
I like that "Massorifice", the name will probably stick.

Look, I don't know who this Johnno character is, wait a minute, he's a Massorifice right? :TU: Gotta meet this dude...

All I am saying is we gotta have SOMETHING going on here guys! It seemed a little odd last year for a newbie that is.

I think with the late night race availability at Salem the hotel lot action will be minimum. Everyone spends their time at that track until it is closed.

The fireworks and tire melting (2 nights) were cool at the Red Roof last year

    Edit....(Thanks Red Mustang :TU: )

Derek, don't ya know, most of us Buick guys are pot-bellied, middle-aged, balding grandparents that can't stay awake past 9:30 pm?

Mike, I agree with the late night racing issue. BUT, not every Buick guy in Salem is a big racer. Heck, I bet less people on this board than you think are 1/4 mile racers. Don't get me wrong, I flat out loved watching the races last year, and will again this year!

Again, I am not talking about the level of craziness and such that the Mopar Nats brings to my hometown (If you haven't seen it, ya don't know), I just think showing Salem that the Buicks are here would be nice, instead of shutting down right away. :beer

The main problem was that the police were threatening to arrest us for open liquor in the lot. That's the first thing someone needs to make change. Get the cops to lighten up and leave us alone.

    Dang, really Mike?

Did the Hotel call? If so, we need to change Hotels. I thought that was PRIVATE property, and if you are a guest there....... :Do No:

I'll be at the Hampton (gotta use those Hilton points). :Brow: And next year, I will not have to leave mid Sat afternoon, so I can meet a few more guys. Twice I was standing next to a guy in the swap area, and I was thinking (I've seen him before), but I can't figure out where....

Sat about 2pm, as I was prepairing to leave, he intoduced himself to the crowd, Dennis Manner. :Dou: :Dou: :Dou: I had a bunch of questions I would have loved to ask him.

I Like late night fun as much as the next guy.....but let me just say this:

That guy at the show with the only OLD car (Black...Loooong....30's ??) was a local policeman. I spoke with him for quite a while and he told me point blank that we better be careful because they WILL arrest you for drinking in public....street racing....and anything else they can get you for. He said they take no B.S. and that it was specifically discussed in briefings that the BUICK's are in town, that we were seen drinking in the parking lots.....etc. So at least the Fuzz knew we were there.... :puzzled:

.....and IT WAS NOT JOHNNO lighting off fire works and doing Burn-outs next to the WedWoof Inn.....it was a '89 Red Mustang who first came over and challeneged us to a street race....which we lawfully declined :Smarty:  :Dou:

    Alan,

Who said it was Johnno? I knew it was that pesky red Mustang driven by those local pyromaniacs....

Police??? Not wanting public drinking??? A local cop warning you be behave or else??? No kidding. Every suburb cop will have this feeling I'm sure.

I am not saying run around the parking lot trashed and drinking beer in open containers, but come on, we did not even come remotely close to that. There is nothing illegal about an after hours cruise-in. Eventually the cops will leave everyone alone. Think of it this way: We bring a whole lotta cash to area businesses, and the businesses KNOW it. As the years go by, things will change.

If you don't want to drink, fine, don't. If you do, do it in your hotel room. I don't think anyone should drink and drive though of course. I still say we should get together at one Hotel, and let the owners know about it in advance. If they react poorly to the idea, say fine, we'll find another place that will. Money and business talks! What the heck else in going on in Salem in August???? Reynoldsburg rolls out the red carpet here every year for the Mopars, lets get Salem to do the same for us. :TU:

One night we closed the IHOP at Midnight, after partying in the pits til we had to go eat. and I think it was Saturday night? The late day at the track does cut into the extra-curricular(parking lot) activities we enjoy at other events, though.
New turbocharged golf cart? Who is that pyrotech?
