This is my 1980 LeSabre limited 2 door, I bought it 2 years ago and replaced the factory 301 with a 455 BBB from a 75 Riviera, and just a few weeks ago put a th400 in it from a gto, as it turns out btw a 72 gto driveshaft is perfect length for that swap. My plan is to build a "what if" car out of it, like what if Buick produced a full size running mate to the grand national, bringing back the gs and gsx badges and the big block, so any mods I make I'm sticking to gm, such as Corvette turbines wheels and a modified iroc wing to emulate an 80s update on the gsx wing, and I plan on blacking out the car gn style. The last photo is a pic I shopped with ideas. IMG_20221122_204811_036.jpg IMG_20221129_225039_128.jpg IMG_20221129_225057_652.jpg

Right on! When you described your idea for a look I didn’t think it would look good however seeing your photoshop idea I think it works!

I have the turbines already, but I'm waiting till spring to put them on because I put a lot of work into restoring them, I very much want it to look like a typical parts bin factory hot rod, the wheels are off a 77 Vette even

This is an earlier pic I did before deciding to go with the turbines or replacing the white top IMG_20221224_000158_162.jpg

Wheels are 15x8 with a 4 inch backspace I believe

    245/60R15 would fit well

I was gonna run 235 up front and 255 in back tbh, also here's a pic I took after about 20 minutes hand polishing one of the wheels. IMG_20221224_001958_567.jpg

That would look good as well. On that car you could fit 295/50-15 if you really wanted a staggered look.

I think the biggest you can put on an 8 inch wheel is 275, but I'm trying to stay low on budget, I'm only in on the car maybe 2200 altogether

I'm just going off maximum tire width manufacturers list for 8 inch, and my boss put the 275s on his Chevy C10 with an 8 inch so I know the look you mean, but it's not all that bad

What was involved with the engine swap. Will be doing this on a 77 LeSabre in the near future.

It was pretty straightforward, I had to put the engine in twice basically so I could mark out and drill new engine mount holes, and I just used the stocker 75 rivi mounts even though most were saying I'd need the shorter skylark style blocks, the rivi y pipe even lined up with the stock exhaust, and I just had to extend the ignition wire. Though you'll have to be sure you have either a bop or dual pattern bellhousing

The th400 swap was harder than the engine swap

275 fit fine on a 8” rim no issue there.

i like those cars. as for the driveshaft a little info a 73-77 a body and 77-90 b body use the exact same frame and alot of other components. i miss the 83 4 door i had.

Here's 275/60 R15 on 15x8" rims at the rear . Looks fine to me but I don't think I'd go any wider than that on the same rim.

Of course, thus my "to me" comment. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's always this look:

72 a body had a shorter wheelbase, and I needed a 2 inch shorter driveshaft in my 80 with the th400 swap
