So refreshing to not have the '71 discussion. It either is or it isn't and I'm assuming if he says he has the Sloan Docs then it is...
Assuming that's a white (or Sandalwood) interior, looks independently like it's 1 of 1 in both the exterior and interior. Not that rare = valuable but it does equal interesting.
I bet even Fritz would be a one of one, if we boiled him down. Or I guess if we did that, he would a none of none.
Fritz (@STAGE III) is definitely 1 of 1, lol. @Mike Sobotka & I had the pleasure of hearing him tell the whole story about finding the X block while his son brought him shots, lol.
Only three 1 of 1 interiors so this is likely the only one that's both 1 of 1 interior and exterior. Most are probably 1 of 1 when it comes to the interior/exterior combination.
In the beginning of the model year, 2 different batches of the 72 cars were ordered with exactly the same options, except they were each a different exterior color. That is to say the cars were ordered with 2 different option groups, say A or B, and the only difference between the cars of any option group, was the exterior color. (There may have been changes to interior colors as well.) So if you knew which option package you wanted, all you had to do was go to a different local dealership to pick up the color you wanted. If memory serves me correct, they all were delivered to a single distribution center and then were shipped to the appropriate dealerships. Duane
Most 1971-72 GSX cars were not factory equipped with a UB5 Hood tach, it along with front spoiler and body colored sport mirrors were not standard and had to be ordered. This car appears to have Sport mirrors. Hope seller posts more information.
Not sure but I'm thinking this was the Hunter Green 350 car with the Green Vinyl top and the Deluxe white front bench interior. If you look at the picture with the firewall exposed, it is showing the paint code "48" with a "? number" for a vinyl top. Duane
