It seems to be time for me to sell my 1971 GS stage 1 car. It is lime mist metallic in color with a pearl interior and white vinyl top. The car has only 26,400 miles since new, we were the first people to register in on the street (registering it for the first time was a real pain!!). It has NEVER seen bad weather, snow, salt, lived outside or been anything but babied. It is an automatic non console car with bucket seats. It also does not have any Air conditioning, power windows, power seats etc. When this car was ordered, it was ordered to race. The GS was built with the following options: the 455 engine with the stage 1 options (heavy duty suspension, heavy duty cooling etc.) power disc brakes, AM/FM radio, N-25 bumper, sport mirrors, instrument gauges with clock, Buick road wheels, rally steering wheel, 3:42:1 posi rear end (from the factory), and 2 point safety belts. The car remains optioned as built with the exception of the rear end gearing. It has 3;73 posi in it now ( installed during the 1992-1996 restoration). There is no build sheet with the car and I don't think it ever came with one.

We have owned this car for over 25 years and we are the third owners. The car was built in the Framingham MA GM plant and was sold new at Erkanin Buick of Stowe MA. The parts manager ordered this car and after 6 months it was sold to the gentleman who we bought it form in 1992 ( we are still friends with the him). This car was built to race in the NHRA stock classes and did so in SS/JA, G, H/SA and G/SA from 1971 until it began its full restoration back to showroom condition in 1992. The car was raced as "The Coyote" in the northeastern part of the US. Its home track was Lebanon Valley raceway in New York. We have its fastest times in each of these classes and where thy occurred. I can post them if interested.

The car has its original engine with TS code stamped on the block and visible and the VIN on the front of the engine block. The transmission was replaced as a warranty repair in 1971. The rear end is also original. The seats and vinyl top are original. I had to dye the hard plastics on the seat backs and sides pearl again. The white color on the original seat backs were crumbling. The carpets have been replaced as have the panels front and back. The trunk is perfect and comes with the jack and spare tire. There is and has never been any rust on this car. The motor runs amazing and the car drives as a brand-new GS should.

From 1992 to 1996 the car was returned from its racing condition back to factory stock. The engine was rebuilt as was the rest of the drive train. It was brought back to its Lime mist metallic color and many other aspects of the car were returned to factory condition. When we got it, over time we had to replace the door panels and we did some other small cosmetic fixes. Over the years we also had the plastic dash re chrome plated, painted and silk screened to mint condition, had the distributor rebuilt, and recently had the car repainted due to some imperfections (fish eyes and a few scratches) in the paint from its 1996 respray (it was raced as a black car not the lime mist color). Many other little things have been done to rally bring it up to a wonderful stock condition. It also has won a Gold award at the Buick Nationals. I can send along the score card for when the car won Gold.

As you can see from the pictures, this is a stunning car with an amazing race history. I have many photos of this car racing back in the day. I was able to verify the options on this car from the old photos and the restoration photos (only a few of those). It was a late 1970 build for the 1971 model year and has a few interesting options on it.

I am looking to get $48,000 for it. It is a truly amazing real stage 1 car with low mileage and a verifiable racing history.

thanks for reading.... it is really sad to see this car go.

I hope you post a lot more photos to help your sale, to get top dollar it helps to have about a dozen or so of each area, interior, outside, top, bottom, engine etc…..

Hey All! i definitely will post more picks. i will post the racing history i have.

I wanted to get it up last night. kind of like ripping off a band aide. it pains me to sell it but i just don't have time for it. it deserves someone to show it off. i have three kids, all teenagers. we do stuff with them. i just don't drive it. it needs someone to love her as i have, and drive it as we did in the past. i think we got it with around 18,000 miles on it in 1996. this car really has not been driven on the street much. whoever gets it will be getting basically as close to a new GS stage 1 car as can be.

also the motor has obviously been totally rebuilt. it still has a lot of the trick machine work that was done to it during the racing days. it drives amazing and sounds so good. always starts up good but takes a while to warm up. it was designed to warm up slower and cool down slower. the prior owner wanted it to change temps slowly during its racing career. the heads, intake and exhaust manifolds have all been machined to flow exceptionally well.

the prior owner would pull about 20 runs on a motor and then have it torn down. this motor ( the original one) had 2o runs and then was pulled and stored. this is why it is not damaged and has the VIN and TS code visible.

the options i deduced from talking to the prior owner who raced and restored it plus examining what the car has on it now and comparing it to old photos of when it was racing and the few i have when it was being restored in 1992-1996. since these were not really high dollar cars back then, i figured the photos would be a good guide as to options. as to options, it really has very little. i compared the info i had and could get to the larger dealer book i had which listed the options codes and what the option packages had in them ( as far as trim packages, chrome packages and such).

I also had the clock restored, so it works perfectly.

I will get more photos tonight as i am off tomorrow from work. i had a few more but i was only allowed to post 12.

When the transmission was replaced was it replaced with another "BB" or "OW" Stage 1 transmission?

No, it seems to have a regular GS trans. I was given a BB code trans with it that goes with the sale. I can post the tag.

Lime mist on white is a knockout color combination.

Post some pics of the car outside especially rear shots showing that N25 Bumper?

Does it have F41 Rally suspension (rear sway bar boxed rear control arms)?
