Yes there is another behind the booster. The seller told me that then previous owner (early 80s until 2012) duplicated the original markings.

A fellow enthusiast on the GS Facebook page posted the following...

"The 78 does represent the paint code. Many times a "P" or "D" will also be found chalked on the firewall behind the brake booster to represent power brakes, or power disc brakes. Each of the assembly plants may have handled these markings a little differently, and it may have differed from year to year as well."

Nice find ! I was wondering where someone can find the paint chart and if available for other years ?

Beautiful car. Just beautiful. How many other times in your life will you look at a car where you know its history? And said history is very well documented. I'd be all over that if I had the money.......and incidentally, it's a rare situation where the Canadian price is actually darn close to what it would fetch down here.

Made an offer but it was rejected. Heading home. Details to follow......

Safely home now. 7 hours round trip.

Liked the car enough to make an offer but it was not enough to buy it. Seller wont sell the car without all the parts.

The quarters were patched poorly in the 1980s. Needs to be re-done. Rust coming in 1 fender. Rest of car good. Paint only a 20' job.

Interior very nice. All mechanical & electrical good. Everything on the car worked as it should. Drove very nice.

Car is numbers matching as reported. Engine was freshened in 2010. Runs great.

Seller & I are $4000 US apart on value. He knows where I am if he wants to accept my offer. I offered all I was willing to pay.

Anyone wanting more details on the car can PM me. Good car but not worth what he wants considering the work that needs to be done to it soon. It will be easy to spend $12-1$15000 US on body & paint on this car. It needs the rust free quarters that come with.

    This was the biggest disappointment.

What a disappointment. It looked SO good in the pics and after $12-15k in paint & body work, you'd be into it pretty heavy & married to it, but then again you are looking for a keeper and it would be a beauty and one to keep. Maybe he'll come around to seeing it your way ($).

I just finished a frame-off on a Burgundy Mist Stage 1 4 speed. The color combo was a hit in BG a few weeks ago.

Beautiful car. Thanks for sharing. What was it like before the resto?

Complete but un-kept/un-restored, but thank God it still had the original numbers matching drive train.

It only needed 2 things: time and money...

Your car certainly inspires me on what this one could look like. However as is the case with all cars one must decide what the car is worth to them. I don't do body & paint work so I would have to pay for all of that part of the restoration if I buy the car in question. That draws a hard line in the sand that I need to stay back from. This is the case on any collector car not just this Buick.

The 1970 Burgundy Mist GS sold for $25000 Canadian = $19,000 USD.

It went to a new owner in Eastern Saskatchewan.

The car had lots of Pros but the list of Cons was too lengthy for me.

Not my first classic car buying rodeo so on to the next one.
