John, How about some more info? Options, milage, history, wrecked, build sheet, how long have you owned, interior condition, console, etc, etc??? r.silvius@sbcglobal.net. Thanks Car looks great!!
A vote here for driving and enjoying them. I've had my 70 Stage car since 1987 and have no intentions of ever selling it. I paid $1000 for it then, and it was ROUGH, but I brought it back to life with a boatload of new drivetrain parts and some body massaging by Mike G(racebuicks). I've been offered ridiculous sums of money for it even though it is now a garage ornament with no motor in it. I raced it at the track, I raced it on the street(lots) and I drove the pee out of it, but I babied it just as much. It's been 10's in the 1/4. It's been parked at a cruise night. It was my newborns first ride home from the hospital in 1992 so he'd know what a thumping nitrous sniffing big block Buick felt and sounded like before he had many other memories. It was my ride from the church when I finally tied the knot with my wife in 1999. It's been parked since late 1999 and had the "fast" motor pulled because I couldn't bear the thought of cutting it up for a roll cagebecause the track said not to come back without one. I'm gonna start a frame off on it and put it back to 100% stock "appearing" because it deserves it, not because I want to make it a show car, sell it, and "get rich". This car is my first child. Ask anyone in my family, my 14 year old is second born. He wants the GS so bad. But I told him some day when I'm old and Gray I MIGHT let him borrow it permanently. But, when it's just been finished with it's high dollar restoration my son will be well into driving age and have some experience with the race car. I think I'll let him do the first smoke screen off the back tires.:3gears:
I applaud you, and agree very much! My car like yours was bought rough(I paid $900.00) I rebuilt it myself, with the intention of running the snot out of it(and have) my wife Robin has been racing the car while I've been racing my Regal. The car is for sale only because I have another stage-1 4-spd, and a convertable that I want to restore, if I want to be able to do this, I have to sacrifice "one for the team" otherwise it'd be years before they were done! But it seems that of all the intrest that I've had has come from somebody that was interested in "an investment", not the thrill of driving an american muscle car!
I know what you mean about the guys looking for an "investment". These are the same guys alot of times that drive Hummers and Range Rovers for the image instead of the awesome off-road capabilities they posess. Good luck with the sale. I know all about sacrificial lambs to pay for the next project. Heck, I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I myself wasn't up to my armpits in projects. Shoulda never sold the 71 Stage1 4 speed car I had. But alas I was young and dumb.ou:
