Little pricey to not have any original drivetrain, but man I'd love have it

how can 14k be justified for a car like that and most of the parts missing? what would it cost to restore to numbers matching and what could it be sold for?

Even a new car guy like me can tell straight off the bat that is not worth it

The original engine and trans have been lost to time and there is no amount of money that can restore it back to "numbers matching". The best you can do is get a period correct block and transmission that has the correct date codes.

Funny, if I told you what I paid for my Aquamist Stage 1 4 speed, you would flip out and say. "I cant believe you got it so cheap!!!". But at the time, it was "all the money" for it. It was market value. Now Haggerty has it insured for $60k. So is $14k high for this one? Maybe, but the market will eventually catch up to you and surpass what you paid. I paid $1000 for my 71 GS-455 in 1989 and got made fun of because I spent too much. Little did anyone know, I was a visionary!

People get all caught up in the matching numbers hype. There is no judge that checks numbers at a car show. Buy it, build it and enjoy it. The car will run exactly the same as a numbers matching car without the premium price tag.

Well, he can ask whatever he wants. What he ends up getting for it is a totally different story.

    I'm guessing that's a $6-8K car at BEST.

I think this car is overpriced but I bet it will still bring 10 grand or close to it. Red, no vinyl top or AC stage 1 4 speed car that someone will want to restore I bet. I love when the Buick musclecar stuff keeps surfacing!

Agree 100% on your position on non#s cars, especially for a pure stock racer type car. However i think you would at a premium price tag or more after this restoration.

Which brings up another point- who says every car needs to be restored? Why cant you just drive it as is? Doesn't anyone besides me drive junk anymore?

My GS 350 driver needs to be restored but I can't even paint it because it is mostly original still. Once I start I will have to do it all. It is rust free, but new paint will mean new carpet, then weatherstrip then bumpers then trim, then...you know. My rusty 71 GS 455 coupe just needs a battery and that one could drive anywhere. I did the brakes. It leaks a little from everywhere and blows a bit of smoke on heavy acceleration but it still pulls nice and it really doesn't matter because it is kind of a POS.

I love beaters. My convertible will be restored and I will have so much damn money invested I will never get to another full resto anyway. Doesn't mean I don't want to drive an old GS to work sometimes though without the worry. You will get no crap from me if you just drive something without the numbers matching radiator cap.

When I say I'd love to have it , I mean to just drive and beat the piss out off, I mean 5k shifts every time, it's perfect for that

It would be a fun car to just drive. I just picked up a '70 Stage 1 4-sp. NOM - rust free and almost perfect interior, but the paint isn't great - I wanted something I could drive/thrash on.

i do..i drive junk and am happier in them and anything i own...

i like 20 footer type cars, but ruff junk makes me happy...especially when they are fast..

i like to torture cars like that to the very edge of their life...it makes me feel like going out and getting another ruff one tomorrow..but its too cold and ice is coming...

funny with age, how temps help make choices of what i will and wont do...

I was in Nebraska yesterday and bought a 68 Cutlass Post car and had to load it and it was in the 20s...dayum...i forgot how cold it can be..lol..20 with high winds...thought about just going home, but when i got there..you couldnt wipe the smile off my face with a bulldozer...and its ruff...just like i like them..

    BadBrad Got 4-speed?

If it's a true Stage 1 car where is the "H" on the data plate?

The trim tag says "FL1" which is Flint. The H is in the VIN
