Mike I kinda want to keep that one, I am trying to put together a set for a set of 67 disk brake wheels, I think this is the correct one, not sure it is a non brushed inside. The picture you posted of yours looks like a non bushed inside, is that correct. Do you know if 67/8 disk brake wheels had the non brushed inner. Are your disk brake wheels original to your car? If they are then you could get the disk brake wheels without the disk brakes, the factory installed accessories and options is not to clear but it looks like you may have been able to order drum brakes with the Rallye wheels, (V6) is the code. Thanks Bill.

I have a set of original 1968 disc brake wheels and also a set of 1968 5 spoke wheels with trim rings. The 5 spoke trim ring wheels in 1968 were not an option and are a bit of a mystery, but they did exist, and my build sheet proves it. They are also listed in the Buick part manuals.
The 69 5 spoke wheel with a trim ring is different than the 68 version, the 68 version had a chrome plated center and the rim was painted black, the '69 version had painted spokes. In 69 it was called a "super sport" wheel.

The 67/68 disc brake trim rings had the brushed inside.
The 68 5 spoke trim rings are chrome plated.

You could order the disc brake wheels without having disc brakes, they were called Rallye wheels. The traditional Buick 5 spoke wheels were just called "chrome plated wheels" on the order sheets.

One other question is weather the disc brake ralley wheels were painted body color or black. From what I have seen, the 67 version was black and some of the 68 versions were painted body color. I have no paper documentation to back that up, just a few photos from original owners. The set of 68 disc brake wheels that I have were painted body color and it looks like they were painted at the factory.

68Slylarker, after looking at the one trim ring I have and reading more here, it is not correct it is not burshed inside and has the wrong valve hole, so close but not correct.

Mike Trom, thanks for the info. I have a set of 69 trim wheels and rings on a very low mile GS and yes they are painted black center and gray ribs, and the rounded rings.

I do remember seeing the painted wheel with the chome ribs, but was not sure what year they were.

I do have a set of 67 Skylark Rallye disk brake wheels and I think they were white and came on a white car as I rememeber.

Has anyone bought a set of the good repro rings, are they correct, brushed inner, depth, outer wheel clips and correct open valve stem hole?

    Thanks Bill.

Bill the three rim I have are brush you might not be able to tell in picture. So the valve hole is not correct? And my GS didn't come Disc they came off a 70 Lemans

Those are the correct trim rings for the Buick disc brake rallye wheels and the valve stem hole is correct.

The trim rings for my chrome center '68 wheels have a round valve hole, rounded edges and are chrome plated.

The picture of my car below has the disc brake rallye wheels that I purchased as a set, they are not original to my car. Those rims were actually blue when I bought them.

Did you ever find your trim rings. I may an OEM set, however the ring you transmitted a photo of
is exactly the same as an OEM set I have on my 68 Camaro. Perhaps they were offered on both cars.
The set I have was a 68 Skylark with band brakes and has the flat outer ring.

I have a set of four for a 68 14 X 6 with the oblong valve stem hole. If you are interested let me know and
I will take a digital and e-mail it to you.

    Cheers,

    Jack

Is the 5 spike trim ring different than the 1968 14x6 Buick Rallye wheel, the V2 wheel?

Does the all chrome version still come with the trim ring?

Trying to figure out which version I have.
