John or Roberta, Were there any Wildcat Gran Sports made in base trim? If yes how many?
Also, A friend of mine bought a 65 Wildcat Custom 4 door hardtop and I saw a 66 Wildcat 4 door pillared sedan in a Junkyard with a cloth interior that I haven't previously seen on Wildcats. Do you have any info on these? (both cars were built in Canada) The 65's serial number begins with 546639 I haven't looked at the 66 as I wasn't able to open the door.

Also, do you know if they made any 66 Wildcat Gran Sports in Canada?

Here is a link to the interior's pictures:

    Thanks John,
Did you look at the 4 door's pictures? Weren't the sedans available only in base trim in 66?

I stand corrected, more Wildcat GS convertibles than I thought were made. Still, I've never seen one in person.

So now that you've got the production numbers and the VIN and trim all check out, you going to buy it? Nice color combo too once it was finished.

    Mike,
Maybe you had the number of cars with the 2x4 setup in mind. There were apparently 21 built.

    That's all? Now there's a rare bird!

While you are on the subject, do you know how many Riv GS models in '66 came with dual quads and air conditioning? I always wanted to know.

    :Do No:

179 came with dual quads from the factory and about 80% of 66 rivs had a/c. I don't know the exact number of cars that had both options but it should be something around 80% of 179.

When I got married our Best man used his 66 Wildcat GS convertible as our limo. Talk about getting married in style. We had the top down on a nice sunny day in mid August, and had to waste 1.5 hours in between the wedding and reception. It was great to see the look on peoples faces.

I have the break down of A8 optioned Wildcats around and will post it as soon as I find it.
Ours is one of seven from Flint. Our Wildcat GS is also burgundy mist, but with an Artic White painted top.
The A8 option was only $381.01, not a bad buy if you ask me.

I was paying attention to that last summer in Flint, after noticing that many DQ '66 rivs there had bench seats and no a/c.......Many had manual windows......There was one silver '66 nearly identical to what I have, a lot of accessories but it had no a/c. The owner claims it is an original car, I'm sure it really was. Many of the other '66 DQ cars there were add ons that were not all original. (like mine).

Wish there was a way of finding out how many were made that were fully optioned and DQ.

    Thanks for the info!:TU:

    I Agree

The Daily car report can tell how many of each option individually, but not too detailed on the combo's. The best detail is the combo options reported, like A8-B3-I6 which is Dual quads, 4-speed and A/C.
For example, the 65 Wildcat Custom Coupe 46637 there were 18 of these A8-B3-I6 cars. I'm not sure if my coupe is one of them, since the engine is not original. But I can hope! And it will be (dual quad 4-speed A/C) when I am done!! Its definately one of the 38 B3-I6 cars. I love this stuff. See Ya

A bit out of the subject,
Ted, do you know if the 3.42 posi from my former 68 Wildcat 4 door would fit in the 65's front loader axle which presently has a 3.07(?) open? I'd be surprised if it does but it would be a good surprise!

Mine's one of the dual quad AC cars. Ground up resto. Here's a pic of the engine. I too love these cars.

One of the car. I like the Wildcats too. Couldn't afford to do one myself considering how deep into the other ones I am though.

Somebody with some room should save that one.

    radiator sticker

First I want to compliment your car. I love it! Nice work.

    :Brow:

I notice you have the same problem as me. That radiator sticker on the radiator cover is just too big. I don't think they reproduced it correctly. Does anybody have a picture of an orignal one still on a car preferably a '66 Riv?

I don't remember it any different on my dad's new '66 Riv GS but am interested to get any feedback too since you brought it up.

I wonder if the original was not supposed to be centered. That is, off to the right in that flat area that is recessed slightly. I thought of using the smaller '65 sticker but it wasn't right it's for a downflow radiator. It would fit better, though.

My nephew has an original 67GS Riv 430 with the star wars ac and all that. I'll ask him what it looks like.
