I've had good luck with the 212 cam and low comp together with the 12 nossle nitrous kit to run 12s with a 3800 pound car.

What else did you have done? Convertor? Gears? Head work?

I checked my notes and it was a 310 cam.

This was my beater G body regal racer project last summer. I got it with a SBC, th350 with manual valve body and shift kit and 410 gears (sold the SBC to pay for the BUick 350 build), CHEEP BUILD! re-ringed and re-bearinged my 76 buick 350 that had spun a bearing, no machine work all stock spec parts lol, new timing chain and 310 cam, that aboe 12 nossle nitrous kit to avoid issues with spraying on a dual plane intake (center divider is in the way of most nitrous kits). I ran this car hard.

Well, was the compression still 8.5?

I just am looking for some solid experience with these cams on low compression. I only want to do a cam swap once.

8:1 with 200 shot worked good with the 310 cam.

Hey everyone... I just called to to see if I could some heads for the Buick, the only local yard, i'm aware of, the only buick stuff they have is 96 and newer... All the years bolt up, right? (maybe i can find some:pray: )

Also, I'm still doing headers, and maybe an intake, I figure, poston or T/A is the way to go, considering I probably won't be able to afford an X-Factor. So I figure an alum intakes, atleast better than cast.

What headers do you reccomend? and Coated or no? I'm thinking about wrapping them anyway.

Also I want this thing loud so what kind of mufflers do you think? I still want it to sound good, but loud(er). I was thinking maybe 3'' pipes but I think that may be a little much.

none of that newer buick stuff will work, as for the aluminum intake, i'd just go with a stocker as you can pick them up for 50bucks or less, pretty much all your gaining over the aluminum is what 20 pounds less, for what 300$?

didnt seem worth it to me atleast.

Remember a few months back I gave you the contact info for aguy with a buick 350 with alum ta intake and hooker headers? He wanted $500 I think for the whole thing. you should buy that and have everything you need to build a HOT 350 while you drive your car!

You need 68-80 Buick 350 heads

Yeah I tried to get it but he couldn't find any reasonable way of shipping.

And I just can't find a darn Buick 350 or even a 455 around here. its all Chebbies.

I believe 70 and up have push rod oiling, so I would stick with those years. I bet someone else can carifly that with more detail.

I would recommend Hooker Super Comps for headers. They look and perform awesome. Save up and get ceramic coating!! Nothing looks worse than rusty headers. http://store.summitracing.com/partd...908231+4294840140+4294880275+115&autoview=sku

As for an intake, I would save up for an X-Factor pending dyno results. T/A and especially Poston's intakes do not provide any real power increases.

    I attached a picture of my headers:bla:

the last Buick design v8 was produced in 1981. a 96 will just be an SBC corporate motor variant and will do you no good.

Rover was still producing SBB variants til 2004 but they always arranged their valves the proper way. that is, not like the 350. the 350 has the center exhaust valves siamesed while the 340, 300, 215 and Rover variants all siamese the center intakes.

Yeah my latest 350 came from a 81 estate wagon and its block number was a 1980 production number even though the car was a 81

    2 1/2 inch is good

I think alot of people here recommend Walker Dynomax mufflers, because they are quiet crusing and roar when you get on it.

3" wont hurt performance over the 2.5" but the 2.5" will flow enough unless you start making over 500 hp.

The only issue with 3" exhaust is the possiblity of not having enough back pressure.

I've ran a 350 with just exhuast manifolds on the way to the exhaust shop and it lacked power for sure due to lack of backpressure and was much more powerfull with the 2.5" exhaust installed. Same engine ran even better with open headers and lost a little bit of power when I put the 2.5" duals back on.
