Installed the gauges in the dash as well as the wood grain stickers. Still waiting on a few unexpected parts before it all back in. Before pulling the dash. Much better. Looks better.
Starting to poke into the steering column. Worked fine / signals worked... but I feel like I shouldn't just paint it & slap it back in; it's older than me. Never done a column rebuild before. This was mostly to get the exposed painted pieces refinished / painted... but it's gotta need bearings checked/regreased (hopefully; vs. replacing). Those are the last bits of painted interior pieces I need separated, then I can look at having someone spray them all.
Took the Hawk to a bracket race in Gainesville Sat. Made some of the best passes so far 5.52 @ 126 (1/8 mile). Dialed in 5.53 and won first round with a 5.77. Car got loose on launch for a split second then took off like a bat outaa H. Got up to the ticket booth , the girl said I needed to check my gas cap. Yep, left it off, dunno how but it happened. Some fuel must have sloshed out and got under the tires. Top 1/2 of the track there was a wobble in the steering wheel. Thinking "now what". In my pit, lifted the front , spun each wheel and it looked like a belt separated on the R side. Well chit! Didnt wanna risk a tire coming apart at 125 mph so called it a day. Time run.. Below is a vid of Rd 1..
Got my Hector steering box in the 67. Ground works, what a PIA. Had to replace the wire, then it would not conduct to the pin. WTH? Ended up soldering it to the pin:
I prewired my car for the SW Green Line gauges I ordered last week. The order came today and when I opened the box I almost puked. All the parts from SW say "ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO" on their boxes. Sorry, I'm not paying $450 for "ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO". Too bad too, the Green Lines match the factory tach almost perfectly.
MANNY!!! Those gauges and the new wood grain look BEAUTIFUL! I'm sure that put a smile on your face. RICH!!! You are correct. Steve does have a B.A. car!!! STEVE!!! Rich is right. You do have a B.A. car!!! Can't wait for the Nationals!!!
Cleaning up the Skylark for a car show on Saturday. Haven't had it to a show in about 5 years. This will be it's first outing with the new Stage 2 482. I would post a picture but the website is not letting me now. Ken
I parked my Buick out in the rain so I could change all the fluids in my daughter’s new-to-her Jeep Wrangler. To the membership, I PROMISE I’ll go to confession Sunday!
Purchased and had mounted new front runners for the Hawk. Running a Tnt Friday night and a bracket race on Sat
Went to the local high school and found a friend. Then found more friends for my Skylark. Fairly confident that's a long tailshaft T400? Not sure it's "right" for a Skylark but it's something to work with
Put the 470 back in my son’s Stage 1 and without a hitch it fired right up once it got fuel and sounds nasty as they come with the open MT’s scavengers. You’ll get to see it at BG. Just look for the prettiest Black 1970 you’ll ever see, he does a fantastic job making it look original, other than the Holly 950, Qjets aren’t big enough.
